‘Survivor’ Favorites' egos bruised as Fans take Round 1

By Shaun Archer

2008-02-08

Turnabout was Fairplay

Reality television has come a long way over the past few years. With every new show aired, there always stands an iconic character; someone you can relate to, someone you admire and more than often, even someone you loathe.

The 16th season of Survivor is definitely something fans have been waiting for. Not just the coach potatoes watching from home, but for those lucky 10 who were chosen to compete in the Fans vs. Favorites edition.

The 10 super-fans arrived in Micronesia to a gloomy, torrential downpour. Little did they know, their day was about to be brightened by another group of 10 who were just around the corner. Literally.

Fans, meet your competitors; 10 of the most-liked and popular Survivor contestants from past seasons. From gravedigger James to the scheming Jonny Fairplay, many favourites have returned for a second shot at winning a million dollars.

The game kicked off with a race to two boats on the other side of a waterway, where two individual immunity idols were also conveniently placed. Both tribes, Airai (the Fans), and Malakal (the Favourites), both contained a nice mix of eclectic contestants. The man people love to hate, Jonny Fairplay found the first idol but ironically, it belonged to the other tribe. Quickly making a dash for the other, he was ousted by Yau-Man who nabbed the idol for himself.

After making a stink about how a fragile old man “smacked his head” into the boat the idol was placed on, Jonny managed to calm down. The same couldn’t be said for opposing team member Kathy who seemed thrilled at the fact one of her tribesmen was gay, then kicked off again about another teammate’s breast implants. You’d think she would be more productive considering her tribe was destitute.

The advantage of being on past seasons definitely aided Malakal who set up shelter, made fire and collected food in no time. Immediately, alliances were made, pairing Yau, Jonathan, Eliza and Ami against Ozzy, James, Parvati and Amanda. Naturally, Fairplay manipulated both sides to find out which alliance would be better suited for himself.

With so much confidence, it would seem Malakal had nothing to worry about. But even the utmost pride was no match for Conan the Barbarian, a.k.a. Joel on the Airai tribe, who pulled his tribe to victory. After failing to win the immunity challenge; a turnstile puzzle wheel that needed assembling, the Favourites were brought back to reality, complete with scars and bruises from a collision with a tree. Note: Eliza might want to stay out of wagons in future challenges.

Unexpectedly, the Fans won the first immunity of the season. With such elation at the Airai tribe, Jonny Fairplay was on the other end of the spectrum. Missing his girlfriend and unborn baby girl, he told Ami he wanted to be voted off. Does anyone else find it odd that his pregnant girlfriend was Michelle, the lesbian from America’s Next Top Model’s fourth cycle? Yeah, I was surprised too, but that’s reality TV for you.

His wish was granted as the Malakal tribe unanimously voted for him, sending him on his way.

So in the end, Jonny Fairplay and his girlfriend both failed to live up to their TV egos. We expected more from the man who faked his grandmother’s death. Nonetheless, it’s good to have Survivor back.

Marie~I don't know if you like Survivor or not but my whole family LOVES it...You summed it up very well. I just don't understand why Johnny F. did that. Was his pride gone cause he lost to an ole' man? Plus, I had no idea his g/f was Michelle on !st Top Model. I caught up with that show when I was sick in bed. LOL I thought she was a "total" lesbian? Each to their own...I guess.

I'm for the Fans though.

I love Survivior too. I was kind of shocked at the out come too cause Johnny F was talking so much junk early in the show. I'm rooting for Yu Man because he so deserved to win the last time he played and that no good player tricked him out of his truck and screwed him over. If Yu Man doesn't win then I'm rooting for James I like him too. I wish that they had brought back Rupert I liked him. He would have been better than Johnny F who sucked. emo-1629759HOVARhaveAGreatWeekend.gif

Jungle love was in the air on ‘Survivor’

By Shaun Archer

2008-02-15

One tribe becomes two, while Ozzy and Amanda became one
Now this was a Survivor first. Not even halfway into the second episode, a mere few days into the game, mutiny was already afoot at the Airai tribe. It would seem that despite their joy and pride from winning the last immunity challenge, this group of contestants are definitely scattered.

Disorganization ran rampant as the Fans tried to make shelter, boil water, find food and even make a fire… did I mention that they had won flint and still couldn’t start a flame? Clearly these Fans aren’t so super after all, considering none of them used any techniques to make fire that other tribes have tried in the past. Even wannabe leader Joel’s brute strength couldn’t conjure up a spark. In the midst of all this fire drama, Kathy naturally managed to create more, whining and sobbing about being an outcast, along with Tracy and Chet, the other shunned Airai members. The trio decided to make their own shelter and separate from the rest of the tribe. Divide and conquer, was it, Caesar? Let’s hope so, if you’re rooting for the fans, that is.

Meanwhile, on an island not far away, the Favourite tribe can’t seem to get enough of each other. Maybe it was the starry sky, or the gentle breeze through the palm trees that created the mood but the Favourites seemed to be all touchy-feely. Bow-chicka-bow-wow… the feeling was definitely right for Ozzy and Amanda who engaged in a little nighttime tongue. James and Parvati also didn’t seem to mind each other’s company; touching and flirting whenever they got the chance. With so much love in the air, Cirie began to fear that the two canoodling couples could form a powerful alliance, a thought that had also crossed Jonathan’s mind.

This week’s challenge combined both reward and immunity. Reward in the form of fishing gear complete with a boat, and immunity in the form of an idol, of course. The challenge itself was reminiscent to last week’s, having the survivors collect keys to open a bag of puzzle pieces and yeah, you nailed it, assemble a puzzle. Thanks to Chet’s nonexistent swimming skills but superior floundering skills, the Fans lose immunity to the Favourites, who beat them by a long shot.

The Favourites now got to choose one loser from the fans and banish them to Exile Island….but wait, there was a twist. Despite their win, the Favourites also had to pick one of their own to join the exiled player. Now let’s do the math: one immunity idol on Exile Island and two players trying to find it. Uh-oh, dilemma. Or at least that’s what would have happened if our two exiles, Cirie and Kathy, had actually found the idol. I honestly felt their exhaustion and downright anger as they went back and forth, countless times from clue to clue, and in the end, they got nothing… except for some female bonding time and intense exercise.

Back at the Fan camp, Mikey did his best to be a big shot, predicting how the game would turn out and who will be voted off. Not only did he confuse viewers with his babbling suppositions, he also bewildered his tribe, who didn’t follow his complicated plans. All his talk seemed to backfire and rubbed Airai the wrong way. It also opened their eyes to Mikey’s nature and fuelled their will to knock him from his high hypothesizing horse.

Joel appeared to be most irked by his attitude, stating he was wary of Mikey and didn’t trust him. Give it up Joel; we all know you are just trying to supplant Mikey as soon as you can.

With all the segregation, tribal council naturally could go in any direction, with each fractured group of the Airai tribe voting for their least-liked competitor. But last night, one survivor got the surprise of their life. A blind side is always a viewer favourite and yesterday delivered just that. Mary, best known for not really standing out, aside from flirting with Mikey, was booted out, much to her own surprise.

A good choice? Who do you think should have gone? Let me know your thoughts or opinions.

I think Chet should have been voted off.
Micki
Mrs. Belch~Thanks for keeping this up for me. When I can see a little better I'll get you off the hook. LOL

PS I LOVED Rupert also but he already one 1 million so I don't think he could come back. Remember he got it from the fav. choice.

DIVIDED TRIBE VOTES OUT YAU-MAN

user posted image

As the Favorites wrestled with Tribal Council for the second time, the tribe was split evenly into two alliances of four, with Cirie sitting squarely in the middle. Having previously given her allegiance to Jonathan, Yau-Man, Eliza, and Ami, Cirie decided she had a better shot with her new friends, Amanda and Parvati, in their alliance of couples with Ozzy and Jamesa. It was Yau-Man who paid the price for Cirie's betrayal. He was voted out of the game by 6 of the 9 votes. Departing the game early, Yau-Man Chan, the 56 year-old computer engineer from SURVIVOR: FIJI, leaves his final words: "No hard feelings, I had a great time. I was a very big target coming into this by virtue of me doing so well in Fiji. I consider myself lucky. Many people want to get on Survivor once, well, I've been on twice. I wish I would have been in there longer. That's the way this game is. It's a very cruel game, but that's the way it goes."

The Wrong Move
The Fans return to the Airai camp after a surprising Tribal Council, where Mary was blindsided and voted out. Mikey, the 35 year-old aspiring writer from Los Angeles, had no idea that Mary was going to be voted out. He speculates: "I can only assume the big guy, Joel, stuck a knife in my back already. Interesting." Unsettled, Mikey confronts Joel and chews him out for sending Mary home too soon and going back on their deal to vote out Chet. Joel, not wanting Mikey to have control of the tribe, shrugs off Mikey's warnings. "I would really like to see the look on [Mikey's] face," threatens Joel, "when the baseball bat comes swinging up the side of him and wakes him up to the reality that he doesn't have this tribe in his pocket."

The Fifth
In the dead of night, Malakal's alliance of couples, Ozzy, Amanda, Parvati, and James, invite Eliza to the beach for a bonfire. The foursome works Eliza, trying to get her to join them in targeting Yau-Man and Cirie as the two weakest players on the Favorites tribe. Eliza, however, doesn't buy it. "I listened to them," she says, "but I don't trust them." Promptly reporting back to her original alliance, Eliza, Jonathan, Yau-Man and Ami consult Cirie. Cirie informs them she's still tight with them but admits that the couples have been working her over, too. Sitting in this dangerous swing vote position between two alliances, Cirie says, "I'm still trying to decide which side is better for me."

The Tribes receive Treemail consisting of a Survivor Comfort Catalogue and war paint. Learning there is to be an "aggressive meeting" between the Fans and Favorites, both Tribes are instructed to select three reward items from the catalogue, which they will acquire if they win the Reward Challenge. At Malakal, the Favorites debate which three items to choose. They apply war paint and begin chanting as the anticipation of battle draws nearer. Eliza exclaims, "We are going to kick some ass today!" At Airai, as the Fans pour over the catalog, Mikey declares to the Fans, "We're going to war!" The Fans paint frightening skeletal masks on each other and practice wrestling moves. As Joel's territorial instincts kick in, he equates the upcoming challenge to that of a home invasion: "If somebody comes and invades my home, I’m gonna kill 'em."

Reward Challenge: Beach Bash
The tribes step onto their mats, decked out in painted war masks, and Jeff Probst informs them, "Today is going to be a battle." He explains the rules. Both tribes start at opposite sides of a watery playing field in their opponent's end zone. On "Go," the two tribes will charge across the lagoon to their own end zone on the opposite side, carrying three heavy canvas bags. The tribe's goal is to get their three bags, plus two bags from the enemy tribe, into their respective end zones. To make things interesting, tribes can steal bags from their opponent's end zones even after the opponent has scored. First Tribe to get any five bags in their end zone at once wins Reward. The Favorites, having chosen three items from the Survivor Catalogue, will be playing for a shelter kit, a lighting kit, and a survival kit, while the Fans selected to play for a fishing kit, a shelter kit, and a kitchen set.

The game is on as the tribes charge across the lagoon, instantly colliding into each other. Things get physical quickly as the Fans' Joel tackles Favorites’ Amanda and Yau-Man at the same time. Erik drags Eliza by her own bag into the Fans' end zone to give them an early lead of 3-2. But, when Erik throws Amanda over his head, it sends James into a fit and he charges Erik head-on. In a full-on melee of tangled bodies, Alexis manages to steal a Favorites’ bag and reach her tribe’s end zone, putting the Fans up 4-2. The Fans only need one more bag for the win, but the Favorites make a huge comeback. James and Amanda both steal bags from the Fans' end zones in quick succession, flipping the score and putting the Favorites in the lead 4-2. Jonathan makes a break for it, stealing a bag from a pile of Fans and races across the lagoon, diving into the Favorites' end zone, scoring the fifth and final point for the Favorites. The victorious Favorites take home the shelter kit containing tarp and ropes, a lighting kit containing a lamp and fire supplies, and a survival kit containing tools. In addition, the Favorites send Kathy, once again, to Exile Island, and Ami eagerly volunteers to go from their own tribe.

Who's Playing Whom?
The Favorites return to camp, where they recount the brutal challenge. Cirie splinters off from the group and watches them closely, trying to decide where to place her loyalties. "Because I am in the middle right now," muses Cirie, "I have to look at every option or every scenario that could possibly happen." Amanda and Parvati take Cirie out fishing on the boat where Cirie admits to them that she is uncomfortable and slightly threatened by their close relationships with Ozzy and James. The girls quickly placate her. Parvati tells Cirie that she has made no promises to James, admitting, "I know if I go up against him in the final three I'll lose, no matter what." Cirie presents an offer: Cirie's allegiance to the 'couples' alliance in exchange for Amanda and Parvati's word to go to the Final Three with her. The two girls happily give their word, effectively bringing in Cirie as the fifth member of their couples' alliance. Going one step further, they also agree to Cirie's plan to vote out Yau-Man. Back on the beach, Eliza and Jonathan watch as Amanda and Parvati pounce on Cirie, and Eliza nervously states, "I hope [Cirie] doesn't fall for their garbage."
On Exile Island, Ami tries to track down the clues to the Hidden Immunity Idol, but runs into a roadblock: Kathy. Having already searched and found four clues with Cirie, Kathy is reluctant to crisscross the archipelago of Exile Island for the second time. Slowly trailing behind Ami, Kathy becomes more of a hindrance than a help. "I'm just exhausted," complains Kathy as she and Ami get 'stumped' at the second clue. "I [don't want] to go island hopping again." As clouds darken the horizon, Ami is forced to call off the search and the exiled Survivors hunker down to wait out the storm.

The Storm
As night falls at Airai, the Fans feel the full force of the storm. Huddled together in their shelter, the tribe bemoans their fate as the steady downpour leaks through their thin roof of palm fronds. Mikey groans, "We almost had the tarp!" At Malakal, in their dry cave, the Favorites snuggle up under their newly-won tarp, using it as a blanket. Eliza giggles to her tribe, "We're totally covered, oh my God, this is so great!" Back at Airai the storm gets worse, and the Fans shiver in their shelter, surrendering to the miserable, sleepless night. Jason crawls under a cliff overhang, his own personal shelter, and while being dripped on, expresses his jealousy of the Favorites: "I'm sure the other tribe is doing really well, staying dry, and probably laughing about us right now having to endure this wicked storm."

A Battered Tribe
The Airai Fans wake to a ruined beach, their shelter a mess after the barrage of wind and rain. "Last night was probably the worst night I've had since we've been here," complains Joel. "We feel like we got beat up twice yesterday. Once by the other tribe and once by nature." Alexis shivers in Chet's arms, unable to get warm or dry. Knowing that her tribe must soon face an Immunity Challenge, Alexis, the 25 year-old motivational speaker from Beverly Hills, is deeply worried: "I think that people are pretty demoralized right now. We cannot lose today."

Immunity Challenge: Nut Bucket
Airai and Malakal arrive at the Immunity Challenge, where Kathy and Ami, returning from Exile Island, rejoin their respective tribes. Jeff Probst explains the rules. Each tribe will choose two men and two women to hold a rope tethered to a giant hanging net basket. Members of the opposing tribe will attempt to shoot coconuts into the net. The more coconuts a tribe successfully throws into the other tribe's net, the heavier that net becomes. The tribe that holds their net up the longest wins Immunity and is safe from Tribal Council.

James, Jonathan, Cirie, and Parvati hold the net for the Favorites; Joel, Erik, Tracy, and Natalie hold the net for the Fans; all other tribe members alternate taking shots at the nets. First Jason, then Alexis sink coconuts for the Fans as the Favorite’s Jonathan heckles them every step, trying to distract the Fans. The Favorites finally start sinking their own coconuts, but the Fans are on a roll, making basket after basket. As Joel, Erik, Tracy and Natalie hold tight, Jonathan continues to try to throw off the Fans with serious trash talking. But as the Favorites’ net fills up, getting heavier, Jonathan is forced to concentrate his efforts to help his tribe keep the net from touching the ground. James, Jonathan, Cirie and Parvati wrestle with their almost-full net as Chet tosses in one more coconut that does the Favorites in. The Favorites' rope slips from their grasps and their heaping basket of coconuts falls to the ground. The ecstatic Fans win Immunity, sending the Favorites to Tribal Council for the second time.

The Swing
At Malakal, with Tribal Council looming, Jonathan targets Parvati, whom he sees as the supposed leader of the couple's alliance. Amanda and Parvati instruct their flames, Ozzy and James, to vote out Yau-Man in order to get Cirie's allegiance, but the two boys aren't too happy about this plan. Ozzy confronts Cirie, arguing that they still need Yau-Man for his skill in challenges. Ozzy wants to vote out Eliza instead. Cirie argues, "I cannot stay here and see him find another idol and not be able to go [home]." Ozzy finally relents as Ami, Eliza, and Jonathan unexpectedly walk up on the conversation. Jonathan takes note of Cirie's involvement with the couples and confronts her in the cave, making a desperate plea for her to stay strong with his alliance. Tension and voices rise, but Cirie doesn’t budge. As Jonathan gets worked up, the defensive Cirie warns him, "Being like that is not going to get my vote, seriously." He implores her, "I thought we were solid, and they’ve come up and they’ve said things to you that has put doubt into your mind. But I have not done anything to you to put that doubt in your mind.” Getting nowhere with Cirie, Jonathan turns to Ozzy. The men agree that voting out Yau-Man would be bad for the tribe.

The couples' alliance confers and Ozzy begs Cirie to vote out Eliza instead of Yau-Man. Cirie refuses to budge, baffling James: "[Cirie] went from the swing vote to the one who's deciding what's going on for the whole group; that can't happen," vents James. "It feels like I'm in China again messing with a bunch of dumbasses." Jonathan observes the couple's indecision and prays their votes will remain split through Tribal Council. He asks his alliance to stay focused on voting out Parvati. "Our four votes may actually win the day," says Jonathan. "That's what I’m hoping for. Fingers crossed."

Tribal Council
At Tribal Council, Jonathan attacks Cirie for flipping on their original alliance. He accuses her of making a decision to take out someone threatening to her instead of voting to keep the tribe strong. Defending herself, Cirie exclaims, "Jonathan, I came into your alliance as the fifth person. I don't trust you point blank, period. I don't have mind control over anybody here, ya'll vote how ever you want to vote." In the end, the couples’ alliance gives in, following Cirie's lead and voting Yau-Man out of the game and sparing Eliza. With six of the nine votes cast against him, Yau-Man Chan becomes the third person voted out of SURVIVOR: MICRONESIA -- FANS VS FAVORITES.

emo-23_11_621.gif I was very sad to see Yau Man go I had wanted him to win. I think they should have voted off Jonathan but that's JMO. Hopefully the Favs get it together next time.

WRITER'S BLOCK: MIKEY VOTED OUT

user posted image

After being annihilated by the Favorites in both the Reward and Immunity Challenges, the Fans once again found themselves at Tribal Council on Day 11. Joel, the mastermind of the Mary blindside, faced a difficult decision—risk losing future challenges by voting out Mikey, a strong competitor but a major threat to his game, or strengthen the tribe in challenges by getting rid of Chet, a physically weak player who poses little threat to him.

In the end, Joel opted to protect his individual game, and the suave Mikey Bortone, a 34-year-old aspiring writer from Los Angeles, California, was cut loose by his tribe when they voted him out 6 votes to 3. Disappointed, Mikey leaves us with his final words: "I'm not surprised it's me, no, because I'm playing with a bunch of weak players who listen to Joel. Don't trust Joel, he's gonna stab you in the back. I guess I came out too strong. I was never lazy, I always did what I could to help the tribe, so yeah, they're gonna miss me. No doubt."

A Broken Tribe
After a dramatic Tribal Council where the Favorites' alliances were shattered, Jonathan confronts Cirie about betraying their alliance of five with himself, Cirie, Ami, Eliza, and Yau-Man. They duke it out; Cirie telling Jonathan she doesn’t want to hear his complaining, and Jonathan calling Cirie's betrayal 'disgusting'. Refusing to discuss the matter any further, Cirie, very simply, breaks the situation down for Jonathan: "You know that I broke your alliance. I don't trust you. You don't trust me. Everybody knows it. Done!" Frustrated with Cirie and disappointed with his broken alliance, Jonathan faces a major problem: the numbers are no longer in his favor.

Pick It Up or Go Home
The Fans, up early at the Airai beach, scurry about their daily tasks. Jason even catches an eel for the hungry tribe, hacking at it in the water with a machete. When Chet makes no effort to help around camp, his tribe mates take notice. "I don't feel like Chet really wants to help out and carry his weight," explains Natalie. "How do you not say: 'Dude, pick it up or go home.'" Fed up with Chet's laziness, Mikey threatens to vote him out if they end up at Tribal Council. "He's a physical and mental liability and he’s horrible for morale around camp. Chet is gone."

At Malakal, Eliza comes down with a vicious case of tonsillitis. Seeing how sick and weak she is, Ozzy and James regret voting out Yau-Man instead of Eliza, and tell her so point blank. Eliza snaps back at them, "Even being slightly sick, I'm still gonna do better at whatever challenge we have today than Yau-Man would have." To which James retorts, "You're sick and you got attitude?" Annoyed with her tribe's lack of empathy, Eliza begins to worry about her place in the tribe. "I feel like I'm probably the next to go if we lose another Immunity Challenge because my tribe thinks I'm weak, and being sick probably doesn’t help that."

Reward Challenge: Diver Down
The Fans and Favorites arrive at the Reward Challenge where Jeff Probst explains the rules. Four tribe members will swim out to a floating platform and dive down to a 30-foot long steel cage submerged in the water. They must retrieve from the cage ten tribe-colored coconuts with letters on them. Pushing the coconuts the length of the cage through an opening at the end, tribes must retrieve the coconuts one-by-one and place them in a wooden bin floating above the cage. After all 10 coconuts are in the bin, they must swim the loaded bin back to shore where the four remaining tribe members will use the letters on the coconuts to unscramble a ten-letter word. First tribe to unscramble the word wins 3 egg-laying hens and a rooster. In addition, the winning tribe will send a member from both tribes to Exile Island.

The tribes race out to the floating platform where Ozzy and Jason dive into the water first. Jason quickly retrieves an Airai coconut from the cage while Ozzy takes his time underwater, moving his tribe's coconuts to the front of the cage for faster removal later. His strategy pays off for the Favorites as they dive into the water to the awaiting group of coconuts Ozzy left them, quickly outpacing the Fans. Ozzy drops the tenth and final coconut for the Favorites into their bin, and they begin swimming the loaded bin back to shore. The Fans struggle to catch up, gathering their remaining coconuts from the underwater cage. Amanda, Eliza and Cirie shuffle the Favorites' lettered coconuts trying to unscramble the word when James surprises himself, blurting out, "Could it be Triumphant?" Rearranging the coconuts, the ten-letter word indeed is 'Triumphant' and the Favorites win Reward. For the third time in a row, the Favorites opt to send a distraught Kathy to Exile Island, with Ozzy to accompany her.

Empty Handed
The Fans, who have yet to win a reward challenge, return to camp bummed about losing the chickens and jealous of the Favorites’ prosperity. "Malakal has won every reward challenge," laments Joel. "They're living a life of luxury out here compared to what we've got, which is jack-squat." Alexis and Mikey are amazed by Ozzy's swimming abilities as Erik worries about Kathy on Exile Island."Kathy's a weak person," says Erik. "I'm pretty confident she's not looking for that Idol right now. I'm pretty confident she’s curled up in the fetal position just trying to stay alive."

Forever the fan, Kathy gushes to Ozzy how excited she is to have him at Exile Island with her. "I love meeting the Favorites, I wish I was on their tribe," she exclaims. As Kathy works on making a fire, Ozzy pretends to go "get some clams" but races through the four clues trying to find the Hidden Immunity Idol before the sun sets. "There's a lot of guys out there that want to beat me," he confides. "It's really key that I find the idol." Following the fourth clue to a large rock above his Exile camp, Ozzy rolls the stone over and unearths the Hidden Immunity Idol. "I found the idol!" the ecstatic Ozzy whispers excitedly so as not to alert Kathy. "I found the idol! I FOUND THE IDOL!"

Taking a moment to compose himself, Ozzy stashes the Idol first in his hat, then transfers it into his bag right under Kathy's nose. Taking a page from former tribemate Yau-Man's book, Ozzy carves a fake Immunity Idol from driftwood and hides it where he found the original Idol. He prays, "God I hope someone finds it and tries to play it."
Save Yourself
At Malakal, Eliza fears her days may be numbered and she scrambles. Attempting to deflect the target onto Jonathan instead of her, Eliza offers Parvati her allegiance while pointing out Jonathan's likeliness to flip on them without hesitation. "Eliza's just trying to stay in the game," shrugs Parvati. "She's like throwing [Jonathan] under the bus, and I'd say if we went to Tribal tonight Eliza would be going home. So yeah, she should be saying anything she can to save herself right now." Jonathan comes upon them walking in the woods and overhears part of the conversation between the girls. He takes pity on Eliza: "It's so painful to watch someone on the outside who's trying to get back on the inside. I feel sorry for her."

The tribes arrive at the Challenge where Kathy and Ozzy return from Exile Island and rejoin their respective tribes. Jeff Probst explains the rules to the Immunity Challenge. Tribes will race to open six locks releasing a large six-point sliding hub. Harnessing themselves into the hub, tribes will maneuver through a large obstacle course by shifting, sliding, and adjusting each other in their hub. Along the way they will collect six tribal bead necklaces. Once all six necklaces are collected, the remaining two tribe members will match up the colored beads on the necklace with the corresponding letters on a decoding wheel to spell a three-word phrase. First tribe to decipher the phrase wins Immunity.

On "Go," the Fans immediately have trouble unlocking their locks, unable to release their hub from the starting block and giving the Favorites a dangerous lead. Easily opening the six locks and strapping themselves into their hub, the Favorites quickly discover how to maneuver through the obstacle course, collecting their necklaces. The Favorites gather four of their six necklaces as the Fans finally unlock their hub, strap into their harnesses and start out onto the obstacle course frantically trying to catch up. The Favorites snatch up the last two necklaces, handing them off to Eliza and Cirie, who begin to decode the phrase. Collecting their third necklace on the course, the Fans watch horrified as the massive lead the Favorites gained in the beginning of the challenge pays off. Eliza and Cirie decipher the three-letter phrase: "Tribe Stays Intact," winning Immunity and sending the Fans to Tribal Council for the second time.

Pros and Cons
The defeated Fans return to the Airai camp facing Tribal Council. Joel is pulled in two directions. First, Mikey corners him, offering to bury the hatchet – after Joel blindsided Mikey by taking out Mary – if Joel will help vote out Chet. "My mind is spinning with the fact that he’s still here," complains Mikey to Joel. "[Chet] is the weakest. If we get rid of him, that will make me feel secure about your position to me." Sick of losing challenges, Joel agrees to vote with Mikey for Chet, until Tracy approaches him with a different plan. Worried that she, Chet, and Kathy will be systematically voted out, Tracy tries to get Joel to vote against Mikey instead. Using the three votes of Chet, Kathy and herself as leverage, Tracy bargains with Joel, "There's nine people here. All you need is one person and we can take Mikey down." Joel at first is reluctant to lose Mikey's strength in challenges, leading a frustrated Tracy to berate him for letting Mikey call the shots. "Mikey's going to take you down the next chance he gets because of what you did to Mary, okay?" warns Tracy. "So this is his next chance. Beware of that." Joel takes this in, weighing the two arguments presented to him. He tells Tracy, "We'll see. Tonight will be interesting."

At Tribal Council, the importance of keeping the Airai tribe physically strong comes into question. Jason senses that Mikey, his close friend and ally in the game, is in trouble and moments before the vote, makes an impassioned plea to his tribe, begging them to focus on preserving the strength of Airai. "I need to emphasize the importance of tonight’s vote in determining our future as a tribe," Jason lobbies. "We have lost 4 of 6 challenges! So, take a moment to really think about how important it is who we keep on the island and who we let go." In the end, Tracy’s hard bargaining skills pay off. The tribe casts their votes sending Mikey home 6 votes to 3, he becomes the fourth person voted out of SURVIVOR: MICRONESIA -- FANS VS FAVORITES.

TRIBE SWITCH-UP: FIREMAN OUSTED

user posted image

The tribes of Fans and Favorites are no more after a tribal mix up. The newly formed Malakal faced Tribal Council and, with their tribe split evenly between four Favorites and four Fans, it was clear that either a Fan or a Favorite would have to flip. Joel and Erik, angered by Chet's dismal performance in the challenges, agreed Chet's time was up and tried to join the Favorites in voting him out to keep the new tribe strong. But Chet and Tracy, upset with Joel's poor sportsmanship and bullying, joined forces with Cirie to stop Joel and Erik's targeting of the weak players. Upset that she was included as a 'weak' player and concerned she could soon become targeted, Cirie lobbied to Amanda and Ozzy to keep the less threatening and disposable Chet in the game and get rid of Joel, the tough gamer and physical threat to all.

At Tribal Council, Cirie's plan worked. As she did with Yau-Man, Cirie once again convinced her tribe to send home someone who threatened her game, and Joel was voted out of the new Malakal 6 votes to 2. Dazed, Joel leaves his final words: "The tribe picked Chet. Over me. A little bit humiliating. Insulting. Wow. I don't understand why you would want to keep somebody like Chet. It's just very, very confusing. I'm angry, I think I'd like to wring a couple people's necks right now, but I'm stunned."

Outcasts Prevail
At Airai, Jason feels disheartened after his friend Mikey was voted out at the previous night's Tribal Council. "I have a bad feeling that we're just going to keep losing and losing and losing," Jason complains. "I feel that the tribe I'm in is not the tribe I want to be in." Chet and Tracy, on the other hand, congratulate each other on staying in the game despite constant targeting at Tribal Council. "Another one bites the dust and it wasn't us," Tracy gloats, as the two outcasts set their sights on voting Jason out next.

Ozzy and the Idol
As the Favorites prepare Charlie, one of their chickens, for lunch, Ozzy sneaks away from the temporarily distracted group. He stashes the Hidden Immunity Idol that he found on Exile Island in the cave, out of the way and out of sight. "I totally trust James, and I think I can trust Amanda, and I know I can trust Parvati," he says. With complete faith in the couples' alliance, Ozzy excitedly informs the members he has the Immunity Idol; the powerful weapon is now in their arsenal. Upon hearing the news, Amanda exclaims, "[The couple's alliance] we're like the powerhouse right now."

As the Fans and Favorites arrive at what they suspect is a Reward Challenge, Jeff Probst makes a surprise announcement: "It's time you got to know each other. Drop your buffs. We are switching tribes." The shocked and anxious Survivors draw rocks to decide team captains for a school-yard pick. Ozzy draws the purple rock for Malakal and Natalie draws the orange rock for Airai, giving them first choice of the contestants. Alternating, Survivors will choose teammates, but Fans must choose Favorites and Favorites must choose Fans. Natalie, without hesitation, selects James for the new Airai tribe, and Ozzy in turn picks Joel, matching James' strength on the new Malakal tribe. As the tribes shake out, the new Malakal consists of Ozzy, Amanda, Cirie, Ami, Joel, Erik, Tracy, and Chet. The new Airai tribe members are Jonathan, James, Parvati, Eliza, Alexis, Natalie, Jason, and Kathy. "We are no longer tribes of Fans vs. Favorites," declares Jeff Probst. "We are now Malakal versus Airai."

Reward Challenge: Cat and Mouse
After tossing the tribes their new buffs, Jeff Probst reveals they will compete immediately for Reward as new tribes. Jeff explains the rules. Tribe members will be divided into pairs and harnessed together. Each round, a harnessed pair from one tribe will chase a pair from the other tribe through a muddy obstacle course, attempting to grab a flag off the opposing tribe's back. Each time a pursuing pair successfully gets a flag they score a point for their tribe. To make things interesting, the chasing pair has only 60 seconds to capture the other tribe’s flag. If they fail to do so, the fleeing tribe scores the point. First tribe to three points wins Reward: a steak barbecue with all the fixings, wine, and spices. To give the new tribemates a chance to get to know each other, no one will be sent to Exile Island.

First up, Erik and Ozzy from Malakal chase Airai’s Natalie and Kathy. In no time, Ozzy snatches Kathy’s flag, scoring the first point for Malakal. Eliza and Parvati chase Joel and Chet around the course. Slipping in the mud, Eliza accidentally smacks Parvati in the face with her elbow, giving Parvati a fat lip. But they still manage to capture Chet’s flag as Joel pulls him through the course, scoring the first point for the new Airai. In the next few matches, the injuries continue to pile up when something rips through Jonathan’s kneecap and Malakal’s Ami tweaks her knee jumping over a fence in the course. In the final round, with the teams tied 2-2, it’s a rematch between Joel and Chet and Parvati and Eliza. This time Joel and Chet do the chasing, but Chet is unable to maintain Joel’s pace and Joel, frustrated, drags Chet like a rag doll through the muddy obstacle course, while screaming at him to keep up. With seconds remaining on the clock, Eliza and Parvati narrowly elude Joel as he dives for Parvati’s flag. The new Airai tribe wins their first challenge and a huge reward of steaks, veggies and wine.

Defeated, the Malakal tribe returns to the old Favorites’ beach. Joel is livid with Chet's performance in the challenge. "Maybe this is poetic justice of some form because I chose to get rid of Mikey versus Chet," says Joel in disgust. "Now here I end up with Chet again on my tribe, who's probably the weakest of both tribes." Ozzy shows off the Malakal camp to the newcomers who, at the sight of the shelter, chicken coop, and dry cave, start to believe they could become a very strong tribe. But even with the new energy in camp, Ozzy is apprehensive about Chet’s presence at Malakal. "Chet, he's like a sack of potatoes," moans Ozzy. "In the challenge, he freaking gave up." Meanwhile, Chet finds new friends in the tribe's chickens. He likens their real-life pecking order to the game of Survivor, vaguely aware that he has already been targeted as the tribe's biggest liability, saying, "The weakest one is pecked on until they're removed from the tribe."

A Feast and A Nighttime Visit
Airai returns to their camp, jubilant after their victory and excited about the evening barbecue. The tribe salivates at the sound of sizzling meat as the aroma of grilling steaks fills the air. But things don’t work out the way they planned. The Fans had originally built their campfire and shelter unknowingly on the tide line of the beach. "Oh my God! Here comes the water!" screeches Eliza, as a wave crashes onto shore, dousing the fire and nearly wiping out their Reward dinner. With sand flies jumping at their feet, the fire out and the wood drenched, James can't believe the poorly organized Fans, exclaiming, "I'm amazed they're still alive, poor things. They should be dead!"

As the tribe settles in with full bellies, Jonathan's injury from the challenge turns serious. The Survivor Medical Team arrives in the dead of night to stitch up the puncture below his knee. During the painful operation, Jonathan grits his teeth to endure the agony. He speculates, "There could be an infection and it could work down towards the joint of my knee. So let's hope it doesn't get worse."

Two Superpowesrs
At Malakal, Ozzy gives fishing lessons to his new tribemates, Joel and Erik. The three spend some time strategizing. "I think we have a really strong tribe aside from one person," says Ozzy to Joel. "I'm just thinking Chet." Joel counters, "I tell you what, if you're willing to get rid of Cirie first I got no problem giving up Chet." Erik watches the negotiations, describing it as "two superpowers discussing terms." The one thing the three men agree on is that it is imperative that they find a way to keep the tribe strong. "It is to a degree still Fans versus Favorites," explains Joel. "But either the Favorites have to swing a Fan over to their side, or the Fans have to swing a Favorite over to their side. Somebody's going to have to flip."

New Tribe, New Shelter
Jonathan, James, Parvati, and Eliza take charge leading the new Airai tribe in clearing a bigger living area and shelter away from the water’s edge. Skilled Survivors after their previous seasons’ experiences, the Favorites quickly erect a solid shelter. The Fans are excited to have an upgraded home and new life in the tribe. "The new members of Airai, I mean, they're just on it," Natalie respectfully admits. "They're quick, they'e making it happen, it's getting done and it's brilliant."

As the Malakal tribe prepares a meager breakfast of chicken feed, they’re surprised by yells from the beach. “Hey guys look what I caught!” hollers Amanda as she strolls into camp lugging a shark that she’s wrestled out of the fishing net. Ozzy instantly lights up, impressed by his amour, Amanda. He gushes, “She basically wrestled a 4-foot shark by herself! That’s pretty attractive to a guy like me.” Cooking up the giant shark steaks for breakfast, the new Malakal is determined to do well in the challenge.

Immunity Challenge: A Stone's Throw
At the Immunity Challenge, four members from each tribe will alternate throwing rocks at suspended ceramic tiles, breaking them to release four bundles of wooden puzzle pieces. Collecting all four bundles and handing them off, three other tribe members will race to assemble the pieces with help from a caller on top of a tower. The first tribe to solve their puzzle wins Immunity and is safe from Tribal Council.

The Challenge begins with the new Malakal taking an early lead, nailing their four tile targets and quickly collecting their puzzle pieces. Jonathan, James, Jason and Alexis of the new Airai aren’t as lucky. Although they connect with the targets, they don’t hit them hard enough to break them and can’t release their puzzle pieces. However, Chet’s poor direction as Malakal’s caller and Joel’s disruptive interjections begin to slow Malakal down. Airai finally smashes their tile targets and collect the puzzle pieces, getting back in the game. Eliza, Airai’s caller, spots a pattern in the puzzle and directs Natalie, Parvati, and Kathy with their last pieces. Airai comes from behind to win Immunity and send the new Malakal to Tribal Council.

Chet and Joel
With Tribal Council looming for the new Malakal tribe, Erik and Joel decide to get rid of their weak link once and for all. Agreeing to give up a Fan, they promise to vote out their former tribemate, Chet, in order to keep Malakal strong. "It's almost like [Chet's] a wet rag, or a ball of goo," complains Joel about Chet's inability to compete. "If you went back to Medieval times I think we'd kill him ourselves." But as Chet's name gets tossed around as the obvious vote for the night, Cirie is unsettled. "Erik seems to think we should get rid of the weaker players in the tribe," explains Cirie. "Which is fine with me except I'm included in the [group of] weaker tribe members." She quickly checks in with Chet and Tracy. As they complain about Joel’s distracting and bossy performance in the tribe, which they believe cost them Immunity, the three decide to turn the tables on Joel. "Let's take his ass out," cries Tracy. With three votes solid against Joel and wanting to protect herself and her fellow weaker players, Cirie tries to convince Amanda and Ozzy to vote out Joel moments before they depart for Tribal Council. "There are so many plusses for getting rid of Joel. Chet is just like a pawn," explains Cirie. "We can use Chet for whatever we need, whenever we need." Ozzy is not convinced that losing strength in the tribe is a good idea but agrees to consider Cirie’s plan to oust Joel. "This is an incredibly important vote tonight," says Ozzy. "Chet in challenges, he is a waste of space. On the other hand, Joel wants to win challenges. But Joel wants to win the game really bad. Joel is dangerous. It's a hard decision."

At Tribal Council, Chet is criticized for having performed badly in the challenge. Tracy comes to his rescue, calling out Joel as a poor teammate when he dragged Chet through the mud during the Reward Challenge. Chet pipes in, "I felt like I was harnessed to a Mack Truck and drug through a forest." In the end, Cirie's plan to protect the weaker members of the tribe, and herself down the road, works. A completely stunned Joel is sent home as the fifth person voted out of SURVIVOR: MICRONESIA – FANS VS FAVORITES

Once again Chet slips under the radar. Uggh he's a shiftless lazy bum.
Why don't they just get rid of him already? Like I've said before Survivior always has stupid players that can't use their brain. emo-shouting.gif

A MEDICAL EVACUATION AND A VOTE: TWO SURVIVORS LEAVE THE GAME

user posted imageuser posted image

After sustaining an injury at a previous Reward Challenge, Jonathan Penner, the 46 year-old writer/producer from Los Angeles, was medically pulled from the game when the open wound above his knee became infected, risking his life. The Survivor Medical Team’s only course of action was to undergo immediate surgery on the infected area, and a tearful and heartbroken Jonathan became the sixth person to exit the game. Jonathan's parting words: "Couldn't have tried any better. Couldn't have fought any harder. It was fun while it lasted."

Set to face Tribal Council for the second time in a row, an exhausted and ailing Chet asked his tribe to take him out of the game, complaining of an infected wound in his heel. At first, the tribe agreed to grant his wish and send him home. However, Tracy and Erik needed Chet's vote one more time. Tracy had convinced Ami, a Favorite, to vote with them to make a solid four, and so they begged Chet to say in the game long enough to help take out their biggest threat, Ozzy. But at Tribal Council, Chet opted not to vote with his cohorts, and he was sent home five votes to two. Chet, the 49 year-old pageant coach from Ford City, Pennsylvania, leaves behind his final words: "I decided at the end not to go with Tracy and Erik's plan to blindside Ozzy. I just felt that that's something they can take care of after I'm gone. I'm very proud of the way I played the game. I may be going out now, but I lasted a lot longer than some people thought I would. I am so honored to be part of the Survivor family forever. It has been a great experience and thank you again."

Never Saw It Coming

The Malakal tribe returns from Tribal Council where the Favorites had orchestrated a vote to take out a major physical threat, the Fans' Joel. Erik feels on the outs at Malakal as the only member not included in the plan to oust Joel. Sitting around the campfire, Erik blurts out, "I was shocked by that vote..." But the tribe ignores him as they get ready for bed. A shaken Erik finds himself alone by the fire, realizing he has to step up his game. "Those guys are tough as nails," declares Erik. "You cannot trust the Favorites at all."

Tracy's New Friend

As morning dawns at Malakal, Tracy regrets the previous night's outcome. "It was so hard to vote off Joel. [The Favorites] had four, and [the Fans] had four. We should have gained control against the Favorites." Hoping to rectify her mistake, Tracy plants a seed in Erik's head that the Favorites will continue to target the Fans, starting with him. "That pisses me off," Erik moans. Tracy explains that with their two votes plus Chet's making three, they'll only need to pull in one of the Favorites to have the numbers advantage and a fighting chance. Erik agrees. With three votes locked in, Tracy looks for the crack in the Favorites' alliance. She sets her sights on Ami and takes her for a walk along the beach. Ami plays right into Tracy's hands, candidly admitting she's on the bottom rung with the Favorites. "I was never a part of the original alliance between James, Parvati, Cirie, Amanda, and Ozzy, so I'm also in a very vulnerable situation," says Ami. "Maybe I need to play the game a little differently."

A Leg Up

As Airai wakes up and begins their day, Jonathan works on the fire, being sure to stay off his wounded knee. James watches Jonathan limp around camp and is concerned about his health. "Hopefully he'll be all right because losing Jonathan would be a big blow to the team," says James. "I'd be stuck over here with a bunch of girls, losing my mind." Despite the wound, Jonathan maintains his good spirits, telling Eliza how excited he is about the tribe switch-up. Eliza agrees, exclaiming, "I was given new life by this switch-up." Eliza goes so far as to say that Fans vs. Favorites is over in her mind. "“I think once we earn the Fans' trust," Eliza plots, "Jonathan and I are gonna try to work with them and definitely get rid of Parvati and James before there’s any type of merge." A fired up Jonathan tells Eliza, "The game is about to get on. It’s all good."

Reward Challenge: Build It Up, Break It Down

Airai and Malakal step onto their mats, and Jeff Probst explains the rules. Both tribes will swim across a lagoon to a floating platform to collect several bundles of planks, sticks, and rope. They’ll race back to shore where two 15 foot-long bamboo-cage tunnels await them. Tribes will have ten minutes to use their gathered materials to build a blockade in the opposing tribe’s tunnel. When time’s up, the tribes will then race to tear down the blockade the other tribe built in their own tunnel. The first tribe to get all their members through their barricaded tunnel and onto their tribe mat wins Reward. Two native Micronesian Fishermen will visit the winning tribe’s camp and teach the Survivors how to live off the land. In addition, the winning tribe will choose a member from both tribes to go to Exile Island.

On "Go," both tribes race across the lagoon heading for their bundles of materials. Ozzy reaches the floating platform first for Malakal with Airai's Jason close behind. They disperse their materials amongst their tribemates, swimming the bundles of sticks, planks, and rope back to shore. Malakal hits the beach first and begins building their blockade in Airai’s tunnel. Upon Airai's return to the beach, the tribe crams sticks and planks into the framework of the Malakal tunnel, trying to find the best way to obstruct the passage. Jonathan limps around on his leg trying to help Airai as best he can, crisscrossing sticks and ramming planks to form complicated walls in Malakal’s tunnel until Jeff calls, "Switch!" The tribes scramble to their tunnels, racing to tear down each other’s blockades. Ripping at the rope with their fingers and teeth, tearing away planks, Malakal takes an early lead as they crawl up and over the maze of sticks and planks, into the middle of their tunnel. Airai, still at the start of their tunnel dismantling the blockade, realizes that Malakal spent all of their time and supplies building at the front end of the bamboo tunnel leaving the rest of the blockade thin. The Airai tribe squeezes through the last of their tunnel, dragging Jonathan and Kathy out of the cage and onto their mat, winning Reward. Airai sends Chet and Jason to Exile Island, and Malakal goes home empty handed. But before Airai can head back to camp for their reward, Jeff announces that the Survivor Medical Team needs to examine Jonathan’s knee.

Jonathan's Last Stand

Tucked away in the trees beside the challenge course, a worried Airai tribe and Jeff Probst watch as a doctor from the Survivor Medical Team examines Jonathan's wound. Inspecting the large area of infection, she tells him, "This is going to need intravenous antibiotics, probably needs surgical wash-out. It's not going to be a quick fix." Jonathan refuses to accept this diagnosis and exclaims, "I'm not quitting!" But the doctor lays out the very dire set of circumstances. "An infection that goes into your blood stream is potentially fatal," she cautions. Jonathan chokes up, the severity of the situation finally hitting him. Jeff Probst asks for clarification, and the doctor spells it out very clearly for both Jonathan and the emotional Airai tribe. She warns, "I can only recommend for the sake of his leg and his life that he leave the game now.

He needs hospital treatment. It's not going to get better, it will just get worse." Jonathan bows his head and finally gives in, bursting into tears, "Okay, let's go. Go to the hospital." One-by-one, he hugs his teary Airai tribe good-bye. "I'm sad to see him go," sobs Kathy. "He was like the pillar of strength around camp." Jonathan waves goodbye to Jeff and his tribe and climbs aboard the medical boat. As the boat speeds away, Jonathan puts on a brave face and declares, "Couldn't have tried any better. Couldn’t have fought any harder. It was fun while it lasted."

Survivor School

The Airai tribe returns to camp, shocked by Jonathan's sudden removal. James especially misses Jonathan's presence now that he’s on a tribe with five women and begins to feel vulnerable. "I'm with a bunch of girls, and I'm not that persuasive in the verbal manner to woo people on my side and they are," complains James. "If I make it to the merge, it’s all good. But the chances of me making it… this is not in my favor right now!"

Two Micronesian fishermen paddle a small canoe up to the Airai beach and disembark with armfuls of vegetables, fruits, spices, liquor, tools, and fishing equipment. Airai happily greets them, excited to learn from the skilled locals. The fishermen show Airai how to set traps for the coconut crabs and to fish with a simple hook and line. Pulling in fish after fish, Parvati proves to be a quick study. "I think this is one of the best rewards we’ve gotten," gushes Parvati. "We can actually continually use this knowledge and come out here and fish in the morning. It’s going to be amazing for us."

Ami and Tracy Make A Plan

Ami listens in as Amanda, Ozzy, and Cirie bash the Fans on Malakal for their poor performance in the challenge. Cirie scoffs, "You know what's getting on my nerves? Not only do you have to play the game, but you have to teach [the Fans] the game, too." Ami grows annoyed by what she calls the constant "fan-bashing". She leaves the group of Favorites for some peace and quite and runs into Tracy. Feeling sorry for the Fans, Ami suggests to Tracy that they should stick together and help each other out. Tracy’s interests are piqued and she tests the waters with Ami asking, "How tight are you and Cirie?" Ami admits she doesn't trust Cirie. Tracy goes in for the kill and proposes to Ami if she will vote for Cirie, then Chet, Erik and herself would too. Knowing that she's on the outs with the Favorites, Ami takes this into consideration: "I'm really conflicted right now. The thing is I just don't trust Cirie. I just don't. She screwed me over once when she voted out Yau-Man and I feel it coming again." When Tracy sweetens the deal by pledging her undying trust and loyalty, Ami goes all in and tells both Tracy and Erik, "Hey, I'm giving all my trust to you. Take care of me." Meanwhile, Ozzy relaxes with the Favorites, lounging on the beach and enjoying a coconut. He wonders about Jason's progress at Exile Island and mischievously speculates, "I really want Jason to find the fake [Idol] because from what I've heard he might be naïve enough to believe that it’s the real one and use it in some manner that might end up getting him voted off."

A Stick

On Exile Island, Chet complains to Jason that he's not feeling well because of an infection on his heel. "The other day in one of the challenges I got a piece of coral sort of wedged up into my foot and it really hurts like really bad," moans Chet, opting to rest instead of searching for the Hidden Immunity Idol. While Chet recuperates on the beach, Jason takes the opportunity to search for the Idol alone. He canvasses Exile's tiny islands quickly, moving from one clue to the next. The fourth clue leads him to the rock under which Ozzy stashed the fake Idol and Jason unearths it with a resounding, "There we go, baby!" He settles down on a rocky perch and unwraps the fake Idol. Jason studies the small, whittled stick with a crude face carved in it. Slowly a sly smile spreads across his face. "Well, I guess this is the Hidden Immunity Idol," gloats Jason. "This means Ozzy doesn't have it, I have it. So this is really good for me." He pumps his fist in the air and exclaims, "Sweet!"

Late Night Feast

Just after sundown, the Fishermen and Airai tribe check the crab traps they had set. They find two crabs munching on the coconut-baited traps and take them back to their fire for crab and fish stew. With the wine and spices giving the stew a flavorful kick, the tribe is ecstatic about their grand dinner. "I think we had twenty-five different types of fish tonight on top of all the incredible seasonings that [the fishermen] brought with them," exclaims Alexis. "They’re just showing us how to do it."

Immunity Challenge: United We Stand

Arriving at the Immunity Challenge, the Malakal tribe as well as Jason and Chet returning from Exile Island, are stunned to see Jonathan missing from Airai. Jeff Probst explains Jonathan’s departure. "He's doing fine," assures Jeff. "We are now even. Seven-seven again. The game continues." Jeff explains the rules of the Immunity Challenge. Tribes will transport two tribemates from one tower to the next, in waist-deep water, using giant stepping poles that the rest of the tribe must support. The tribe members making the crossing will effectively leapfrog from one pole to the other across the lagoon to the second platform. Once both tribemates are transported, the entire tribe must then climb atop a third and final tower and squeeze onto a tiny wooden platform. The first tribe with all seven members on or above the top platform wins Immunity.

The tribes race to get hold of their stepping poles as Eliza and Parvati climb the first tower to do the crossing for Airai. Ami and Tracy prepare to cross for Malakal. While Tracy climbs aboard the Malakal stepping pole and begins her journey across the lagoon, Airai comes up with a completely different strategy of how to get Eliza across. Once she is perched on the stepping pole, James literally carries her across the water as the remaining Airai lend what support they can in keeping the pole upright and steady. Within minutes Airai deposits Eliza safely on the second tower and head back for Parvati. Meanwhile Malakal falls farther and father behind slowly using both poles to transport the teetering Tracy. Incorporating the same strategy to transport Parvati, Airai drops her once, but recovers, and still manages to lap the struggling Malakal, to deposit Parvati on the second platform. Malakal, far behind now, finally gets Tracy across the lagoon and returns to the first tower to get Ami as Airai climbs onto the third and final tower. Hanging onto James as an anchor they shuffle to accommodate all seven bodies on the tower’s small platform. With the last of the tribe above the tower’s top platform, Airai wins Immunity and their fourth straight victory, sending Malakal to Tribal Council for the second time in a row.

Chet the X-Factor

Malakal returns to their camp facing yet another Tribal Council, and Chet begs his tribe to vote him out so he can take care of his infected foot. They gasp as he holds up his heel, showing them the infection that’s brewing. He pleads, "I gotta go tonight. That’s it, I can't. I have no choice. Please, just help me out, okay?" Ozzy hugs him good-bye, but out of earshot from Chet, Ozzy jokes, "All right, Chet, we'll vote you out. Was there any question anyways?!" Chet's resignation from the game is devastating news to Tracy and Erik who had only just convinced Ami to vote with them to take out Cirie. They commiserate together in the cave, Erik telling Tracy, "We need him so bad just so we can get Cirie out, or Ozzy even." With their suspicions that Ozzy could have the Hidden Immunity Idol, their attention turns towards taking him out and they hurry down to the shelter to beg Chet to vote with them. Ami is there, too, and catches wind of their plan to flip the script on Ozzy. "I'm definitely going to have to deal with Ozzy at some point," Ami thinks. "So if Tracy and Erik convince Chet to stay in the game and make a vote, I would vote with them." With time running out before Tribal Council, Erik begs Chet to stick it out long enough to vote with them against Ozzy, "Me and Tracy would be so grateful, we would be amazingly grateful [if] you could use your last dying breath to do something for us in this game." An exhausted Chet reluctantly says he'll think about it. He weighs his options: have the tribe vote him out and avoid medical catastrophe, or stay in just long enough to help his two allies take out Ozzy, their biggest threat.

Tribal Council

At Tribal Council, Ozzy is put on the hot seat, deflecting questions of whether or not he possesses the Hidden Immunity Idol. Ozzy argues that it's a moot point because the choice tonight is obvious. He states, "Let's be honest with each other right now. Chet's going home tonight. And if somehow everyone is not voting that way than I have no business being here." Chet fires back warning, "The way it's been in every Tribal Council, there always seems to be an obvious person [going home] but it never turns out to be that person." However, Tracy and Erik's plan falls through when Chet decides not to vote with them and Ozzy slips by. Chet receives five votes and becomes the seventh person to leave SURVIVOR: MICRONESIA -- FANS VS. FAVORITES.

A QUITTER AND A FIGHTER: TWO FANS LEAVE THE GAME

user posted imageuser posted image
After withstanding numerous trips to Exile Island and non-stop torrential downpours at the Airai beach, Kathy Sleckman, the 46 year-old golf course vendor from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, dramatically quit the game. After Kathy tearfully admitted to her tribemates that she wanted to go home, Jeff Probst arrived by boat, and Kathy said she had had enough: "I'm never leaving my baby girl or my husband again, for this amount of time ever again." She and Jeff boarded the boat, pulled away from Airai, and Kathy left the game.

Facing Tribal Council for the third time in a row, the Favorites on the Malakal tribe, Ozzy, Amanda, Cirie, and Ami, outnumbered the Fans, Erik and Tracy, 4 – 2. The Favorites set their sights on voting out Tracy, as Ozzy wanted to keep Erik for his strength in challenges. Behind the scenes, Ami devised a complicated plan. She worked a deal with Tracy and Erik to vote with her and take out Ozzy. Next, Ami would convince Cirie and Amanda to vote for Erik in order to split the Favorites’ votes – two votes Erik, one vote Tracy – and give her and the Fans a majority of three votes against Ozzy. Moments before leaving for Tribal Council, though, both Erik and Ami were hesitant on whether or not to go through with their plan. At Tribal Council, the focus was on Ozzy after Tracy called him out as a leader. But, in the end, the Malakal tribe decided to keep their leader and vote out Tracy five votes to one. Tracy Hughes-Wolf, the 44 year-old residential builder from Fredericksburg, Virginia, left behind her final words: "Going up against the Favorites was quite difficult. Ozzy is a wonderful player in this game. He is manipulative and he is strategic. He will definitely take the rest of the tribe down. They need to get rid of him ASAP or they don't stand a chance. I wish I could have stayed in longer, I went out kicking. I did everything I could, and I’m just grateful to be here."

THE CHICKEN OR THE EGG?
A fight breaks out at Malakal over whether to slaughter the tribe's three chickens for their meat, or keep them alive for their eggs. Tracy leads the charge to eat them, angering Ozzy. Referring to the chickens' egg-laying ability, Ozzy argues, "It's a renewable resource. You want to take out a renewable resource? That makes no sense." Tracy accuses Ozzy of waiting to kill the chickens until more people are voted off so he can have additional meat for himself. "Ozzy is in control of this tribe. He’s like the kingpin," points out Tracy. "Ozzy is gonna win this thing if we don't get him out of this game."

A BEATEN TRIBE
The women on the Airai tribe awake after a long, miserable night. As James works on cleaning out their cave, the girls, Eliza, Kathy, Alexis, and Natalie, complain about the rain, mosquitoes and the smell emanating from their cave. Alexis gripes, "I don't think anything can capture the true essence of this stench and this funk." James gets fed up with the girls' fussiness, snarling, "Just relax, we're not gonna be here forever. This is a game called Survivor." Kathy feels the most burnt out and begs Alexis for a hug. "Thinking of home," laments Kathy, "and my daughter and my husband, it's gonna make me cry, it's gonna make me want to be [home]."

ERIK’S HERO
Erik watches wide-eyed as Ozzy scales a palm tree at the Malakal beach to chop down coconuts. Erik expresses his desire to learn from his hero, saying, "Ozzy is amazing. I honestly like Ozzy. He's an awesome guy and I wanna learn, I wanna grow." Ozzy, happy to teach Erik how to climb, proudly calls out advice from beneath the tall palm tree as Erik nimbly makes his way up the trunk. Ozzy cheers him on as Erik drops down coconuts, yelling out, "Yes! You’ve got good nuts now!" Cirie, perplexed by Erik’s admiration for Ozzy, remarks, "Whenever [Erik] says Ozzy's name, stardust comes out of his mouth."

A MISGUIDED BOAT TRIP
Ozzy comes up with a plan to paddle the Malakal tribe’s boat around the island to the back beach where the fish are plentiful. He enlists Erik, Amanda, and Cirie for the adventure. Cirie, admittedly not a strong swimmer, agrees to help on the condition they make it a fast trip because she's scared of the open water. Cirie warns them, "We better be able to get back before sundown." The four Malakal members paddle far out to the reef, where the waves are bigger but the likelihood of catching fish is even greater. Ozzy, seeing an opportunity, decides to take some time to do some fishing and swimming. This scares Cirie as she wants to make it back to the beach as fast as possible. Cirie moans, "I'm nervous as hell, I've never been out that far in the ocean in a little wooden boat." Ozzy tries to placate her, saying, "Nothing's going to happen, don’t worry. Just trust me for a little bit." He drops the anchor and dives into the water. Erik and Amanda quickly follow suit. Cirie cowers in the boat as the younger tribe members frolic in the water, growing angry when they ignore her pleas to head in. "Ozzy is about numero uno, and that's [Ozzy]," steams Cirie. "So, they're gonna have this little reef adventure at my expense today, but it won’t happen again.

REWARD CHALLENGE: MONEY ROLL
The tribes arrive at the Reward Challenge and Jeff Probst explains the rules. For this challenge, tribes will work with traditional Micronesian money-stones, large wheel-shaped stones standing almost as tall as the Survivors themselves, once used as currency by the native people. Four blindfolded teammates will use long, wooden handles attached to the stones to steer them through a jungle course riddled with rocks and stumps. Two other teammates will act as callers, verbally directing their blindfolded teammates to four ground-level stations. Pushing the stones through each station, the weight of the stone will crush tiles cradled at each post. Here, they'll find a pair of smaller money-stones that will be used to solve a rotating-cog puzzle, a series of flat-laying pegged-wheels that spin and rotate to fit all eight money-stones. The first tribe to complete the puzzle wins Reward. The winning tribe will enjoy a trip to the Herbal Essences Great Escape Spa, and the chance to refresh themselves with Herbal Essences products and indulge in a tasty snack. The winning tribe will also send a member from both tribes to Exile Island.

Cirie and Tracy do the calling for the four blindfolded members of Malakal, and Eliza and Kathy do the calling for Airai. Cirie, shouting out commands like a drill-sergeant, leads Malakal to an early lead. They roll over the first station and break open the tiles as Tracy grabs the two smaller money stones for her tribe. Despite Eliza’s best efforts directing the Airai tribe, Cirie and her Malakal tribe keep their lead and proceed to collect all of their smaller money stones. Cirie, Ozzy, and Erik quickly place all their small money stones on the series of rotating cogs, trying to fit them all into place and complete the puzzle. Airai catches up and Eliza, James, and Kathy quickly get started on their puzzle, struggling to make up lost ground. The Malakal tribe, scrambling to fit the small money stones into place, secures the last stone onto its cog to win their first challenge since the switch-up. As they select a member from their own Malakal tribe to miss out on the reward and go to Exile Island, Ozzy singles out Tracy, asking her, "Can you take one for the team [and go to Exile]?" Grudgingly, she departs with Airai's Jason for Exile Island. The triumphant Malakal embarks on their Reward to the Herbal Essences Great Escape Spa.

A TRIBE REFRESHED
The Malakal tribe arrives at their Reward, where they find an inviting spread of fruit, cookies, muffins, and juices. The tribe lets out squeals of excitement at the multitude of spa items, courtesy of Herbal Essences: shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, and combs. Ozzy notices Erik's happy reaction, saying, "It made me feel proud that we were able to win and bring [Erik] in and let him experience this." Ami, Ozzy, and Amanda spot a showerhead mounted atop a small water tower and they rush to clean themselves up. The three tribemates strip down and scrub each other's backs. Amanda cries happily, "How good does this feel?" Erik watches these proceedings with a goofy grin and Cirie laughs at her younger tribemates openly baring all and says, "Hey to each his own, if you feel free like that, by all means, get free. I just wouldn’t do it."

THE HARD RAIN
A monstrous storm hits Airai, pounding down rain and lightning. They huddle for shelter and warmth in their cave, unable to prepare a fire. Kathy is beside herself, saying, "You watch this show at home and when they show the rain, they show it for like 30 seconds. They're not showing that you’re standing in the rain or trying to sleep while you're being rained on for five, six hours, non-stop." The tribe holds each other's hands for comfort and waits for the rain to subside. James heads out into the wild choppy waters and fetches the girls a clam. They eat it raw with no fire to cook, tearing at it like animals. Referring to the Favorites, Kathy says, "Never in a billion years would I ever do this twice."

Night falls on the Airai tribe and still the rain does not let up. The tribe crawls deeper into the cave and Kathy jumps as a bat swoops past her head. The tribe is forced to settle down amidst the rats, bats, and bugs in the cave. Kathy exclaims, "This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever done in my life. This is the dumbest thing I've ever done."

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
As the sun rises on the Airai beach, Kathy sits on the tribe's boat, looking out towards sea. "When I woke up this morning I hadn’t gotten any sleep," complains Kathy, "and I was looking for some kind of strength and I couldn’t find it." She approaches James, asking him for "one more hug." He holds her and tells her, "It's okay, baby. We all got our bad days." Kathy finally breaks into tears, crying, "I can’t feel my family." The girls, Eliza, Parvati, Alexis, and Natalie, try to comfort her. But Kathy breaks into sobs and tearfully declares, "I can't be here one more minute, I can’t take it." The girls try to convince her to stay as Natalie pleads, "We all feel like that today. We all feel bananas." But no amount of comforting will placate Kathy and she pleads, "I wanna go home. I want them to come and get a boat and pick me up and take me away!" Jeff Probst does just that, arriving by boat on the Airai beach. He calls an impromptu meeting at Airai and asks the distraught Kathy, "Are you ready to get out of here?" Kathy nods, sniffling, and says, "I am." She hugs her tribe good-bye and climbs aboard the boat as Jeff sums up the tribe’s situation, "So the Airai tribe is down to six in spite of winning challenges. The game continues. See you soon." He hops onto the boat with Kathy and they speed out onto to the open ocean. Kathy leaves the game.

It's going to be amazing for us."

BREAKING UP THE BOYS
Sitting down to share a coconut with Amanda at the Malakal beach, Cirie confronts her about her crush, Ozzy. She points out to Amanda that Ozzy's selfish side came to light during their boat trip when he forced them to stay out at the reef despite Cirie's pleas. Cirie tells Amanda, "I think you got a dose of who Oscar really is." Amanda agrees, saying, "I'm starting to see that." Ami comes down to the beach to join them and the girls discuss how tight Ozzy and Erik are becoming. They see the young men's bond as a major threat and agree that getting rid of Erik would be the best move to make.

IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: WHAT-ER DRAG
The tribes arrive at the challenge as Jason and Tracy return from Exile Island. Jeff Probst informs everyone that Kathy has quit the game, and after shocked reactions from the Malakal tribe, the game goes on. Jeff explains the rules. One at a time tribe members will race across a floating bridge out to a platform in the water, while pulling with them a long rope attached to a giant wench back on the beach. Once they reach the platform, they will clip the rope onto large folded puzzle pieces and hang on to it as the rest of the tribe cranks the giant wench, pulling them and the puzzle piece through the water back to shore. Once the tribe has collected all five puzzle pieces, two tribe members will unfold the giant puzzle pieces and fit them together to form a large puzzle in the shape of a perfect square. The first tribe to solve the puzzle wins Immunity and is safe from Tribal Council.

The Malakal tribe takes an early lead with an amazing performance by Ozzy. He dashes across the floating bridge and clips into the first puzzle piece. Malakal cranks the wheel and Ozzy gracefully bodysurfs back to shore with his puzzle piece. Meanwhile, Eliza has trouble getting off the platform with her puzzle piece and Airai falls behind. Rather than taking turns with his tribemates, Ozzy opts to repeatedly run the course himself, giving Malakal a huge lead. The Airai tribe sends out Jason, Parvati, Natalie, and even Eliza once again, but still can't catch up to Ozzy. Riding in on the fifth and final puzzle piece for Malakal, Ozzy hits the shore, and Amanda and Cirie get to work on their puzzle. They unfold the large heavy pieces in the sand, trying to fit them together into a square. Meanwhile, Eliza, returning with Airai's last puzzle piece, quickly unlatches it and sets to work on the puzzle with help from Jason. Despite their early lead, Amanda and Cirie fumble with their puzzle pieces and Eliza and Jason make a huge comeback. Shoving their puzzle pieces together, Airai wins Immunity sending Malakal to Tribal Council for the third time in a row.

TURNING ON OZZY
Malakal returns to their beach, defeated once again. The Favorites, Ozzy, Amanda, Cirie, and Ami, meet at the beach to discuss whom to send home. With a majority of four, they can easily send home either of the two Fans, Erik or Tracy. They debate which one to vote out, and Ozzy firmly states, "We need to keep Erik. I think it just makes more sense to vote Tracy." The girls nod along with him, but Ami has other plans, "Ozzy's wanting Erik to stay because he has a good relationship going with Erik, but I just feel like I can work more with Tracy." Alone in the cave, Ami approaches Tracy with a plan. Ami tells Tracy she'll work it so that the Favorites split their votes: Amanda and Cirie will vote Erik, and Ozzy will vote Tracy. Meanwhile, she, Erik, and Tracy, now a voting block of three, will take out Ozzy in a huge blindside. Tracy loves the plan and immediately approaches Erik, telling him, "I'm writing Ozzy's name down." Erik is excited by this turn of events, but expresses a few doubts, saying, "If this doesn’t work out, I have to vote Tracy. If I voted Ozzy, with Tracy, [the Favorites] would flip out and I would be so done."

Ami and Tracy enact the second part of the plan, getting Cirie and Amanda to vote Erik in order to split the Favorites’ votes. They call an all-girls meeting in the cave. Tracy proposes that all the girls vote for Erik because he's more of a physical threat after the merge than herself. Ami lies to Cirie and Amanda, telling them, "I'm willing to vote for Erik as long as you two say that that's good." When, in reality, she would vote for Ozzy. Cirie and Amanda debate the vote. Amanda is wary of voting out Erik, knowing that it would sabotage her relationship with Ozzy. "If I go against Ozzy then I can pretty much kiss that relationship good-bye." Ami, meeting some resistance from Cirie and Amanda, weighs her options just before leaving for Tribal Council. She questions, "Am I gonna take Ozzy out, or am I gonna stick with these people that I've known from the beginning and vote out one of the Fans?"

Tribal Council
With seemingly zero decisions having been reached, the Malakal tribe proceeds to Tribal Council. Tracy calls out Ozzy as the overbearing leader of the tribe. She argues, "Ozzy tells us who's gonna compete, when you're gonna eat, and what you’re gonna eat." Other tribe members agree with her assessment, and all eyes turn to Ozzy. The tribe questions whether or not to take out the stronger players before the merge, and a nervous Ozzy admits, "I'm not that naïve to think that people don’t want me gone, even if they need me to win challenges." In the end, the tribe decides to keep their leader and their strength, as Tracy casts the lone vote for Ozzy, and the rest of the tribe unanimously votes her out. Tracy becomes the ninth person to leave SURVIVOR: MICRONESIA -- FANS VS. FAVORITES.

NANNY’S CRY FOR HELP: AMI SENT HOME

user posted image

On their fourth trip in a row to Tribal Council, tensions ran high at the Malakal beach. Erik, the last remaining Fan on Malakal, saw his game quickly unraveling before him and played his final card. In an attempt to soil the relationship between Ami and her fellow Favorites, Amanda, Cirie, and Ozzy, Erik confessed to them every strategic move Ami had ever made against them while in league with the Fans of Malakal. Ozzy fell under Erik’s spell, believing Ami had maneuvered to oust him at the previous Tribal Council, and he decided to take revenge against Ami by voting her out. Amanda and Cirie, on the other hand, were hesitant to trust Erik, an unknown threat, over Ami, whose double-dealings they were already familiar with.

At Tribal Council, Ozzy's comments about "disloyal Favorites" reduced Ami to tears as she begged and pleaded to be given another chance to prove her loyalty. In the end, the Favorites ended her game, cutting her loose from Malakal and opting to put their blind faith in Erik, the lone Fan. Ami Cusack, the 35 year-old Nanny from Golden, Colorado, left her final words: "It kills me that Ozzy and Amanda didn’t trust me, that I'm not still there playing with them. The one day I finally feel like I'm part of something is the day I get voted out. This game definitely plays tricks on you. You learn a lot about yourself, like I really need to keep my head up. I really need to stay strong. I'm blessed that I got to play this game twice."

ODD MAN OUT
The Malakal tribe returns to their camp after Tribal Council where Tracy was sent home. Erik finds himself alone and vulnerable as the last Fan on his tribe, declaring, "I feel like I'm the next to go no matter what." Around the campfire, Ozzy complains to his tribe about being put on the hot seat at Tribal Council as the overbearing leader of the tribe and flat-out rejects the label. "I don't see myself as the leader of this tribe since we all do our part. It's not like there's people that slack off." Ozzy, not wanting to draw any more attention to himself, realizes he needs to take things down a notch, admitting, "Even though I think I’m a valuable asset, I'm going to have a giant target on my back."

THE HUNTERS
In the eerie gray morning light at Malakal, Ami and Cirie slowly trek through the jungle near a rocky slope, hunting giant land crabs. Patiently waiting for the perfect moment, they pounce on the crabs, skewering them with their worn machete. Eight enormous land crabs later, Malakal begins their breakfast feast. Ozzy, sitting down to eat with Ami, expresses to her some of his fears about being labeled as the leader. She reassures him, saying that he shouldn’t worry; the tribe needs him and has his back. As an example of her loyalty, Ami tells Ozzy that when Tracy tried to vote him out last night, she "stopped anything crazy from happening" and made sure he wasn't voted out. Despite her assurances, Ozzy senses Ami has a hidden agenda, and declares, "As much as [Ami] says she’s on my side, I’m starting to get uneasy feelings."

RAT-CATCHER
Waking up at the Airai beach, the starving tribe is desperate for a taste of something different. Parvati exclaims, "I just don't want another bite of coconut! I just don’t!" Suddenly, they spot a rat moving about their camp and Jason snaps to attention. Hoping to catch the rat so they can eat it, Jason grabs a paddle from their canoe and corners the rat against the cliffside. The rat tries to dodge him but Jason lunges with his paddle trapping the rat beneath it. The girls squeal with delight at his catch and Jason proposes making a shish kebob out of him. He hog-ties the rat and leaves it hanging from their shelter to eat later, bragging, "Nobody's eaten a rat since the first season of Survivor, so it's kind of cool I'll be able to bring that tradition back." Parvati, on the other hand, is not impressed. "I think Jason's been trying to impress the Favorites ever since the switch-up. It's not working, though. I think he's a loser."

THE NUMBERS
Later at Airai, James and Parvati commiserate over the barren island they inhabit. Parvati declares, "I want to go home to Malakal!" The two of them dream about returning to Malakal to be with their old allies, Ozzy, Amanda, and Cirie. Determined to make that happen, they crunch numbers regarding the remaining players. Despite avoiding the last three Tribal Councils, the two tribes are still even six-six due to Airai’s sudden loss of Jonathan and Kathy. Being a two-some in a tribe of six, James sends Parvati on a mission to bring in Alexis and Natalie to secure themselves enough numbers to make it to the merge. He tells her, "[If] Alexis and Natalie get too close to the merge, Ami and Eliza’s gonna scoop them up." In order to keep Natalie and Alexis in line, Parvati approaches Natalie and offers her an alliance of four that will last to the merge: Parvati, James, Alexis, and Natalie. Natalie agrees telling her, "I will work with you." Looking ahead in the game, Parvati furthers her alliance with Natalie by revealing she only committed to James and Ozzy up to the merge. After the merge, the guys will likely be the first targeted because of their strength, allowing the girls to slide right to the top. Parvati, turning her back on her allies Ozzy and James, goes so far as to declare to Natalie, "I wouldn't see anything wrong it with being ya'all two [Alexis and Natalie], me and Amanda - Final Four." The ladies agree on a final four girls’ alliance of Parvati, Alexis, Natalie, and Amanda. Parvati, admitting that she loves Ozzy and James but will turn on them when the time comes, declares that strategically, "They're dead to me."

TREEMAIL WITH A TWIST
Eliza and Jason fetch the Airai Treemail where they learn that this time, the tribes will compete for both Reward and Immunity; one tribe will face Tribal Council tonight. Tribes are instructed to pick one member of the opposing team to send to Exile Island. The catch: the two exiled members will not compete in the challenge, rather they will be granted Individual Immunity good only at tonight's Tribal Council. Eliza exclaims,"This is huge!" At Malakal, Amanda reads the Treemail to her tribe and Erik sees a glimmer of hope. He prays that his old Airai teammates will see him, the last Fan standing on Malakal, as the obvious person to be voted out next, and will send him to Exile Island to save him. He prays, "I'm hoping so much that I get some form of Immunity here and survive this Tribal Council tonight."

REWARD/IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: THE GAUNTLET
At the combination Reward and Immunity Challenge, Ozzy and Alexis are selected for banishment to Exile Island. Host Jeff Probst explains the rules. One tribe member at a time will attempt to navigate a balance-intensive obstacle course over a pit of water, while members from the opposing tribe try to knock them off by swinging heavy canvas bags at them. Once across, they’ll grab a flag and race back across the same course. If they fall off at any time, they will have to go back to the start and the next person goes. The first tribe to collect all five of their flags wins Immunity and a pizza party back at their camp. Jason and Eliza opt to run the course for Airai, while Erik and Amanda run the course for Malakal. It's a tough, competitive match as, one-by-one, Jason and Eliza race across the course for Airai, dodging the sandbags thrown by Cirie and Ami, keeping a very narrow lead over Erik and Amanda. Erik leaps across the first part of course, a horizontal rope ladder to the wooden platform and is nailed on the head by a sandbag thrown by James. Erik manages to keep his balance, though, and brings back the first Malakal flag. Eliza and Amanda both fall off the course on their first attempts and make up for it on their second attempts, each retrieving a flag for their team keeping the score close at two-two. Jason from Airai and Erik from Malakal continue to run the course keeping the score tied at three and then at four. Trailing just behind Jason in a race for their fifth and final flag, Erik leaps across the first pit again, but doesn't make it. Squarely slamming his chest into the wooden platform with a sickening thud, Erik, out of breath, stumbles off the course, giving Jason the headway he needs. Returning with their final flag, Jason pulls out a victory, granting Airai tribal Immunity, a pizza party, and sending a devastated Malakal to Tribal Council for the fourth time in a row.

DEAD MAN WALKING
The downtrodden Malakal tribe returns to their beach and does a survey of their wounds. Ami asks who took the hard hit at the challenge, and Erik pulls up his shirt to reveal his red singed chest. As the last Fan on the tribe, Erik knows he's on the chopping block and laments their loss, declaring, "I tried my damndest. [Winning Immunity] was my last real attempt I think that I could have [to stay in the game]." Ami sums up Erik's bleak situation, saying, "I would have loved to see Erik stay, but I don't see any way out for him right now."

PIZZA PARTY
The triumphant Airai tribe returns to their beach and congratulates Jason and Eliza, who worked their tails off in the challenge. Knowing that he has been on the outs at the tribe, Jason expresses his joy at their win, "I'd definitely say I was the MVP today. But I can’t really count on any alliances. I'm just gonna have to compete at 110% in every challenge or it could be the end of the game for me." Parvati admits that Eliza and Jason tried hard at the challenges for good reason. "I think they both kind of know they’re on the outs," states Parvati, "so they both gave it their all at this challenge, and they saved each other." A boat arrives, bringing the tribe boxes of pizza and a basketful of beer. As James opens beer bottles by chewing the caps off with his teeth, the Airai tribe chows down on the savory slices of pizza. Eliza exclaims, "Today was a great day."

OZZY'S DISCOVERY
On Exile Island, Ozzy is curious to see if anyone has found his fake Idol he planted there at his last stay. He leads Alexis on a search for the 'Hidden Immunity Idol' and plays dumb as he guides her to the decoy's hiding place. Lifting the rock that Alexis coincidentally names "the perfect spot for an Idol," Ozzy finds his fake idol is gone. Someone has taken the bait! Ozzy excitedly wonders, "Who's it gonna be? Who is gonna be tricked by Ozzy?"

DROWNING ON LAND
At Malakal, Erik knows his time is up. "I wanna stay in this game very badly," proclaims Erik. "I'm trying to work with what I have and I'm pretty desperate right now." As a last ditch effort, he spills his guts to Amanda and Cirie about Ami's duplicitous maneuvering. He swears to them that Ami had made agreements with the Fans and conspired on several occasions to vote for Ozzy. Cirie and Amanda are stunned at this revelation. Cirie doesn't know what to think, pondering, "The problem is I don't trust Ami, but I don't trust Erik either. So my dilemma is, who do I trust the least?" Erik makes a deal with the two women, telling them about tonight's vote, "I want you guys to know that if you decide Ami, I’d be in with that." As Erik makes his plea, Ami wanders over to the conspiring trio and catches Erik red-handed as he figuratively throws her under the bus.

TRUST ISSUES
Freaked that Erik could have revealed her double-dealing, Ami quickly assures Cirie and Amanda that Erik is just trying to save himself and they shouldn't trust him. She tells the two women, "He's gonna do whatever he can to stay in the game." Silence greets her, and she adds, "I've stuck by you 100% and I always will." Amanda and Cirie begin to consider Ami’s reasoning, but want some issues laid to rest. They point out that she has been acting strange lately, to which Ami counters that she’s never felt fully included with the Favorites at Malakal. "I want to stick with you guys the whole way and feel like I'm part of you guys," she pleads. "But nobody has really said, 'Hey Ami, we want to fight with you.'" Amanda, weighing whether to side with Ami or Erik, warms to the idea of sticking with Ami, the person she’s known longer. Amanda rationalizes, "It's almost better with the devil you know than the devil you don’t know." Having laid out their issues, the three women give each other a big group hug, and Ami finally begins to feel accepted and secure with Cirie and Amanda.

BACKFIRE
Ami finds Erik to thank him for ratting her out to the girls. By doing so, it forced the girls to work out their issues with each other, making them closer than ever before. She tells him, "I actually feel like I'm a part of them now. Thank you. Thank you." Erik realizes that his efforts to change the girls' opinion of Ami backfired. "I don't want to give up, I don't want to admit defeat, but it's so hard to keep going," moans Erik. "We'll just have to see what Ozzy has to say when he comes back from Exile." Erik plops himself down on the beach and sits like a puppy waiting for his master to return, his eyes scanning the waters for any sign of Ozzy’s return. As Ozzy's boat appears on the horizon, Erik rushes down to the shore and he immediately explains the situation to Ozzy, who is amazed by the sudden turn of events. After learning that his tribe lost the challenge while he was on Exile, Ozzy now hears accusations from Erik of Ami playing both sides. Most importantly, gunning for him. Ozzy declares, "The way I play this game, as soon as someone makes a move against me, that's it, I'm gonna do whatever I can to get them out as fast as I can." Ozzy tracks down Amanda and they have a final chat before departure. Amanda is sure that they should stick with Ami because they know her better, but Ozzy vehemently disagrees, wanting Ami out immediately. As Malakal heads to Tribal Council, the tribe is torn between trusting Ami or Erik.

Tribal Council
At Tribal Council, Erik admits to pulling out the stops and trying everything in his power to stay in the game at Ami's expense. He recounts Ami's failed strategic maneuvering, hoping to reinforce doubt of her loyalties. Ami fights off the barrage of accusations, begging Ozzy and Amanda, with tears streaking down her face, to remember how hard she’s fought for the tribe, giving them her blood, sweat, and tears. She denies she would have ever made a play against Ozzy and pleads with him, "There is no way I would have ever voted for you, ever Ozzy. The only way I would vote for you was to win the million dollars."

But in the end, Erik's desperate scramble pays off. Ozzy, Amanda and Cirie turn on Ami, sending her home four votes to one, and Ami becomes the tenth person cast out of SURVIVOR: MICRONESIA -- FANS VS FAVORITES.

MERGE! FAKE IDOL STICKS IT TO ELIZA

user posted image

On Day 22, the Airai and Malakal tribes merged, ending the division between Fans and Favorites when Parvati led the new Dabu tribe in voting out her former Favorites teammate, Eliza. With the cards stacked against her, Eliza had nowhere to turn except her fellow outcast in the tribe, Jason. Having won the first Individual Immunity Challenge, Jason was safe from Tribal Council and he gave Eliza what he thought was the Hidden Immunity Idol he found on Exile Island. Together, they would try to stage the biggest upset in the game to date: take out Ozzy. If everything went according to plan, Eliza would play the Idol at Tribal Council, the votes against her wouldn’t count, and their two votes against Ozzy would send him home.

Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan. Moments before departure, Eliza took a peek at the Idol given to her by Jason. Panic set in as she came to realize it was just a stick crudely carved out of driftwood. Fearing she and Jason had been duped, they agreed to play their Idol anyway, just in case. But at Tribal Council, when Eliza played the Idol, Host Jeff Probst informed the tribe it wasn’t real. Eliza quickly blurted out that Ozzy must have the real Idol and had planted the fake. Eliza was voted out of the game eight votes to two. As the first member of the jury, Eliza Orlins, the 25-year-old Law Student from New York, left behind her final words: “I can’t really believe that Jason thought that stick was the real Hidden Immunity Idol, but I had to play it anyhow, out Ozzy for having the real one, and hopefully now people can do something about it. Too bad that Immunity Idol wasn’t real because we would have shocked them.”

LAST FAN STANDING
Late at night, Malakal returns from Tribal Council where the Favorites, Ozzy, Amanda, and Cirie, had taken out one of their own, Ami. While stoking the fire, Ozzy tells the tribe, "The thing is, [Ami] dug her own grave." As the last Fan left on the Malakal tribe, Erik watches the Favorites sitting around the campfire and ponders his good fortune, "How the hell am I still here today, I have no idea." He desperately hopes that the merge will come soon to provide targets other than himself: “In a perfect world, tomorrow would be the merge."

JASON’S SECRET
In the early morning at Airai, Jason and Eliza huddle in the cave and discuss their position at the bottom of the tribe. They both feel on the outs, and Eliza admits, "I think we both annoy people." Jason, needing an ally, decides to reveal his secret about the stick he believes is the Idol. He whispers to her, "I have the Hidden Immunity Idol." Eliza can’t believe her ears. She feels like she has just made the most important alliance in the game and she prays, “Hopefully we can take it to the end."

GATHER YOUR THINGS
Cirie fetches the Malakal Treemail, which instructs them to pack up their stuff immediately and head to an undisclosed location on a map. The tribe is stunned, with a distraught Ozzy questioning, "We're leaving our beach?" Assuming it's a merge they gather their supplies to take with them. Erik, knowing that Ozzy had saved him at last night's Tribal Council by pushing the Favorites to vote for Ami, strikes a deal with his hero. Erik tells Ozzy, "I want you to know I'm not flipping to any other side.” Ozzy thanks him and agrees to work together, saying, "I'll be straight up with you the entire time." Erik is ecstatic to have formed an alliance with his favorite player in the game and says triumphantly, "I'm now aligned with [Ozzy] in some kind of like zookeeper bond. Like, I'm more the monkey and he’s the zookeeper now because I owe him my life."

An excited Eliza reads Treemail to the Airai tribe, who are more than happy to leave their shoddy camp. As they pack up their things, Parvati, Alexis, and Natalie hold a last minute strategy session. They agree to stay loyal to each other and to Amanda back at the Malakal beach, in a secret alliance of four. “No matter what, we trust each other and have each other’s backs,” Alexis promises. Parvati, though, fears she could be playing the game too hard and exclaims, “Oh my God, I’m in such a hot pickle right now!” Having already formed a previous alliance of five with Ozzy, Amanda, James, and Cirie earlier in the game, Parvati knows that between her two alliances she’s “gonna have a decision to make down the road.”

MERGE
The Malakal and Airai tribes paddle into a neutral beach, where a decadent spread of food awaits them. The Airai tribe is surprised to see Erik still in the game instead of Ami. “This is the worst merge I could possibly imagine,” declares Eliza. “I feel really alone right now and I’m heartbroken that [Ami’s] not here.” Attached to their new buffs is a note instructing them to make a new flag, choose a new tribe name and pick whether to return to the Airai or Malakal beach. The new merged tribe happily chooses to return to the Malakal beach, as Amanda exclaims, “No question, Malakal all the way!”

THE DABU TRIBE
The Survivors chow down on Micronesian delicacies, the strangest of which is bat soup. James tears off the skin and wings of a bat and bites into the meat as his tribe cries out in disgust. “It was good, like a juicy rabbit, so I’m gonna probably eat another one,” says James. Erik brings up the issue of selecting a new tribe name. He tells the tribe, “The [word] for good [in Micronesian] is Dabu, so we can do Dabu.” The tribe likes the sound of this and raises their glasses in a toast to their new tribe. Erik laughs to himself, “I told everybody that Dabu means ‘good’ in Micronesian, but I pretty much just made it up.”

THE JEALOUS LOVER
The Dabu tribe, stuffed and tired, settles in for the night. Alexis cuddles up to Ozzy and with his arm around her, Ozzy reveals, “I am ready to go beyond Fans versus Favorites.” With her head nuzzled on Ozzy’s shoulder, Alexis gushes, “I had a great time with Ozzy out on Exile and I am a Fan, so I was just kind of excited to come out here and get to know him.” Amanda, sitting nearby, watches the two of them closely. “I know Alexis likes Ozzy, but me and Ozzy have been doing this together for 22 days now,” complains a threatened Amanda. “I want her gone.”

POKER FACES
The Dabu tribe, having opted to return to the old Malakal beach, paddles their boats ashore with all their supplies. The original Airai tribe is excited to be at the luxurious Malakal camp. Alexis exclaims, “I feel like I’m in the land of Milk and Honey over here.” Jason approaches Ozzy, asking him for spear fishing lessons. As they talk, Ozzy dreams about the fact that Jason might have the fake Hidden Immunity Idol. “Going to Exile, I found out someone has taken my planted Idol, most likely, it’s Jason.” Ducking away into the bushes by himself, Jason looks for a hiding place for his idol and tucks it in a crevasse under a rock. “Hopefully nobody will discover it here,” says Jason.

As they search for coconuts on the beach, Eliza asks Parvati if the Favorites will reunite against the Fans. Parvati shrugs and says, “I don’t know. Things have changed and it’s a whole different game.” With no support from the Favorites, Eliza knows this spells for disaster for her, moaning, “If I at least got in with the Favorites, then it would be okay. I could get my way to the final six and then work from there. But if I’m not even in with them, I could be next to go.”

WHILE YOU WERE AWAY
Parvati and Amanda bathe in the ocean and have their own private reunion. Parvati tells her friend, “Oh my God, I’ve missed you so much!” The two girls giggle together until Parvati notices Eliza watching them and angrily blurts, “She’s staring at us! I’m so sick of [Eliza], she’s going next. She has to.” With Eliza safely out of earshot, Parvati tells Amanda about the alliance of four she created back at Airai with Alexis and Natalie, including Amanda. Parvati confides, “I’ve put us in an alliance without you being there.” Amanda plays along, giggling, but in actuality, she’s angry with Parvati because she doesn’t want to be in an alliance with Alexis, the motivational speaker and the one person she wants out of the game. Amanda declares, “I’m livid and it leaves me with a lot of questions about Parvati.”

A NEW HOPE
Alexis and Natalie read Treemail aloud to the group. The new Dabu tribe faces their first Individual Immunity Challenge as a merged tribe, and they deduce that they will compete in an endurance challenge. Feeling confident that he has a chance at winning this challenge, Jason comes up with a new plan. “If I can win the Individual Immunity Challenge, it will allow me to give away the Hidden Immunity Idol.” He tells his ally and fellow outcast, Eliza, if he wins Immunity, he’ll give her his Idol. Eliza is stoked, and exclaims, “I made an alliance with the right person who was sent to Exile one too many times!” The two calculate: if everyone votes for Eliza, and she plays the Idol, the votes will bounce back and the person they vote for will go home. They set their sights on the biggest competitor in the game, Ozzy.

IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: LAST GASP
The merged tribe, Dabu, paddles up to the first Individual Immunity Challenge of the season where Host Jeff Probst explains the rules. Survivors must put mind over matter to outlast each other as they are positioned in a row under a steel grate partially submerged in water. The Survivors’ breathing space will slowly disappear as the tide rises. The person who stays under the grate the longest wins Individual Immunity and is safe at Tribal Council.

The challenge begins as the Dabu tribe, confident at first, soon starts feeling antsy as the water creeps up around their eyes and nostrils. In quick succession, they drop out one by one. First Amanda, then Parvati, Alexis, Cirie, and Natalie. After being underwater for more than an hour and with no room left to breathe, Eliza goes underwater. Struggling to find a pocket of air, she pulls out from under the grate and out of the challenge. Erik soon follows her, leaving James, Jason, and Ozzy to battle it out. All three employ similar strategies to breathe under the grate. They create straws with their hands, blowing water of their mouth and nose. James is the first of the three to run out of air and it comes down to a tense match between Jason and Ozzy. Jason remains steady under the grate, using his hands as an air tunnel. Ozzy, at one point goes under water coming up for quick breaths. Soon, he’s left with nowhere to breathe and tries to hold his breath underwater, but he can’t hold out over Jason’s superior breathing method. Ozzy pops up out of the confines of the grate choking on water, gasping for air, and Jason becomes the first person to win Individual Immunity.

A triumphant Jason returns to the Dabu camp with his tribe, excited to have won Immunity and have the chance to use his supposed Hidden Immunity Idol against Ozzy by giving it to Eliza to play at Tribal Council. “Being able to dominate Ozzy [in the challenge] and then hopefully being able to send him home later tonight will be one of the highlights of the game for me,” declares a gleeful Jason. Parvati, finally getting her wish to get rid of Eliza, spreads the word amongst the Dabu tribe to vote her out because she’s untrustworthy. Eliza overhears Parvati and runs straight to Jason up in the cave, telling him that she needs the Hidden Immunity Idol because everyone is going to vote for her. Jason calms her nerves promising to slip the Idol in her bag before Tribal Council. He tells her, “I can’t wait to send Ozzy’s cocky ass home.”

SWEET REVENGE
Amanda, meanwhile, sets her sights on voting out Alexis, jealous of the bond that Alexis has been forming with Ozzy. She pulls Cirie into her plan and they decide to see who else they can influence. Cirie is happy to help, but deviously laughs about Amanda’s ulterior motives, “A small bit of jealousy is coming into play because of the relationship that Ozzy has with Alexis.”

IT'S JUST A STICK
Eliza heads up to the cave where Jason transferred the Idol into her bag. Excited to set eyes on the powerful statue that will keep her in the game and send the biggest competitor home, Eliza reaches in and pulls out the figure draped in cloth. She unwraps it to discover the crudely carved stick Ozzy had made. Having played the game before and studied its every twist and turn, Eliza does not believe that an Idol would look like a simple stick in a napkin. She exclaims, "This isn't it. This isn’t it!" She storms across camp and corners Jason at the beach. She confronts him, hissing, "It's not the Idol!" Jason insists it’s the real thing, telling her, "It has a face on it, don’t worry." Eliza scoffs at him saying that Ozzy must have carved the face on the stick and that it's fake. Dejected and embarrassed that they may have been duped, she wonders if she should play the stick anyway, just in case it really is the Idol and Jason vehemently cries, "Yeah, of course!"

At Tribal Council, Alexis does time on the hot seat, called out as a mental, physical and social threat in the game. Parvati, dead-set on voting out Eliza, scrutinizes Eliza’s early maneuvering against Parvati and her endless empty promises of loyalty. In her defense, Eliza argues that people should keep her around because no one likes her, which makes her an asset in the Final Tribal.

The time of reckoning nears and the tribe casts their votes. Before reading the votes, Host Jeff Probst asks, "If anyone has the Hidden Immunity Idol and would like to use it, now would be the time to do so." Praying that her plan works, Eliza reaches into her bag, pulls out her idol and gives it to Jeff. The Dabu tribe is stunned that Eliza could have the Idol and petrified that the votes could bounce back at one of them. Ozzy can barely contain his laughter as he watches his hard work pay off and stick played. Jeff inspects the stick for a moment and announces that it is not the Hidden Immunity Idol. Eliza blurts out, “That means Ozzy has it! Jason found it on Exile. Ozzy has the real one." As Jeff tosses the fake Idol into the fire, Ozzy yells out, "Jeff, c'mon, that took hours to make!" Jeff reads the votes and the tribe sends Eliza home overwhelmingly, eight votes to two. Having turned everyone’s attention to Ozzy on her way out the door, Eliza becomes the first person voted off the new Dabu tribe and the first member of the jury in SURVIVOR: MICRONESIA -- FANS VS FAVORITES.

BLINDSIDED! OZZY FLUSHED OUT ALONG WITH THE IDOL

In a game-changing moment, Jason made a deal with his tribemates at the Immunity Challenge: give up Immunity by stepping out of the challenge and sharing his hard won food with the tribe if they all promised not to vote him out. The entire Dabu tribe, some with fingers crossed, agreed to protect him. Jason hesitantly stepped down from the challenge, leaving himself vulnerable. Back at camp, Ozzy and his alliance of James and Amanda were dead set on going back on their word and taking Jason out. But the other two members of their alliance, Parvati and Cirie, cut a deal with Alexis, Natalie, and Jason to blindside Ozzy and vote out the biggest threat in the game.

At Tribal Council, Ozzy didn't suspect the tribe was targeting him. Trusting his alliance to vote with him, Ozzy was stunned when Jeff read the votes and, one-by-one, his name came up. Ozzy Lusth was voted out of the game five votes to four and the 26 year-old photographer from Los Angeles, California left behind his final words: "I'm an idiot. I should have seen it coming, but I got too comfortable. I felt like I could trust the people in my alliance and it serves me right. I'm a fool. To whoever it was in my alliance that voted the other way, right now I pretty much hate you, so screw you basically."

MIDNIGHT TRIBUNAL
A stunned Dabu tribe returns to camp after an astonishing Tribal Council in which Eliza had attempted to play a fake Idol, save herself and take out Ozzy. Stumbling in darkness to their cave, Parvati leads the tribe in interrogating Jason, asking, "Jason, what just happened? Did you give [Eliza] an Idol?" Jason confesses to the charge of trying to play the fake Idol, saying, "That's my only shot in the game." The Tribe's attention quickly turns from Jason to Ozzy, though, after Eliza had called him out at tribal as having made the fake Idol and possessing the real one. Cirie begins to wonder what would have happened if Jason and Eliza's plan had worked and Ozzy had gone home instead. "It might not have been such a bad thing," she says mischievously.

Jason watches the sunrise over the beach at Dabu and contemplates his position in the tribe. He feels a little foolish having been duped by Ozzy the previous night and sees winning challenges as his only hope to stay in the game. Jason boldly declares, “I feel like I could fare pretty well as long as I continue to beat Ozzy.”

REWARD CHALLENGE: BAI BAI
The Dabu tribe arrives at the Reward Challenge, where they are divided into two teams of four. One by one, members of each team will swim out to a multi-level tunnel of nets partially submerged in a lagoon and race through it. Once through the tunnel, they'll swim to a platform and study a collection of Micronesian symbols, memorizing their positions on the answer key. They will then make their way back through the net tunnel to the start and arrange duplicate symbols on an answer board in the same positions as the answer key on the platform. The first team to match all their symbols correctly wins the Reward: a flight to a neighboring island nation, Yap, where they will enjoy a local dance, feast, and spend the night in an ancient village, returning to their camp the following morning.

After a schoolyard pick the Survivors divide into two teams. The Purple team consists of Natalie, James, Parvati, and Alexis, and the Orange team of Jason, Erik, Ozzy, and Amanda. With an odd number of Survivors, Cirie is left without a team, disqualified from the challenge and sent to Exile Island. On "Go," Jason and Parvati hit the course for their teams. They race through the net tunnel, throwing themselves over barriers and across the watery nets to reach the platform with the symbol key on it. They study it intensely and race back, arranging the symbols on their team’s answer boards. Ozzy and Alexis head out next, followed by Erik and James. Both tribes begin to make headway on their answer boards. It comes down to Natalie and Amanda. Natalie beats Amanda back to the start, throwing symbols up on her board. Natalie announces to Jeff that she thinks she has it right. She and her tribe tensely wait for his word. They are wrong, and James is forced to hit the course once again for the Purple team. Amanda, scrambling to place the symbols in the right order, calls it for Orange. Jeff looks over their symbols, and they are correct. Orange team wins reward, sending Jason, Erik, Ozzy, and Amanda immediately aboard a plane for Yap.

WELCOME TO YAP
The four Dabu members touch down on a tiny runway in the jungle and are greeted by a village elder. He leads them through a trail to an ancient village tucked away in the jungle. Erik looks around in amazement, marveling, "It was almost like this village had been there for millions of years." Surrounding a large ceremonial hut, tables laden with food of all kinds await them: roast pig, fruits, vegetables, and fish. The four starving Survivors pack huge platefuls of food into their bellies as the villagers welcome them with open arms, local beer and a few local customs. One custom Erik finds amusing is the fact that women in the village go topless like men. Erik finds it "culturally interesting" and jokes, "That's the most boobs I've probably seen in my whole life."
TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING
With their bellies full, the Survivors sit down to enjoy a dance performed by the villagers and Erik is struck by the rhythmic choreography, dancing along. Ozzy is impressed by Erik's childishness. "He's really just experiencing all this stuff for the first time and the innocence that he has," comments Ozzy, "it's wonderful." Erik asks one of the local men if he can try the betel nut, a type of local tobacco. They happily oblige and Erik chomps down on it as his mouth begins to tingle. However, he pays the price for all the local beer and betel nut. As the rest of the tribe sleeps comfortably in the hut, Erik suffers horrific stomach pains and rushes outside to empty his stomach by any means necessary. He yells back to the slumbering the tribe, "I partied a little too hard Micronesian-style. Beer and Betel Nut: not a good combination."

A BITTER EXILE
Cirie finds herself huddled, shivering in a ball on Exile Island. With rain pouring down on her, and thunder and lightning striking frenetically, Cirie is unable to keep a fire going, and is forced to sleep in the cold darkness. "This is not a good night, not a good night at all," she moans. As the sun rises, her situation is just as bleak. With no Idol to be found, believing it's in Ozzy's possession, Cirie complains there's nothing to gain on her stay at Exile Island. She hones in on Ozzy and his Idol, "Ozzy's a huge competitor and then to have the Idol on top of that, that increased his target like ten-fold. Maybe I'll have to work on getting rid of Ozzy and his Idol."

FED UP
Morning at Dabu and the camp is pelted with rain. James tries to get work done as the girls, Natalie, Alexis, and Parvati, attempt to sleep in the cave. He breaks firewood by slamming it against nearby rocks and noisily sharpens the machete to the annoyance of his ally, Parvati. She reprimands him, "There's three people that are trying to sleep. It's kind of obnoxious. Seriously." James gathers his things and leaves the women in the cave. Walking through the heavy rain, soaked and angry at the way he was mistreated, he complains about working all night on the fire to keep them warm and getting yelled at for it. He angrily says about Parvati, "The actual gall to get up and tell somebody something and then lay your ass back down, that’s some nerve."

WALKING ON EGGSHELLS
Ozzy, Amanda, Jason, and Erik return to Dabu in the pouring rain. They trek to the cave and find the girls just waking. James comes in out of the rain behind them as Ozzy talks about their endless feast. This immediately makes Parvati, Alexis, and Natalie jealous as he goes on and on in detail about how much food they ate. Parvati comments to Alexis, "[Ozzy] is such a little brat." The two commiserate about how annoying Ozzy's bragging is. Meanwhile, James warns Amanda that, "Parvati's tripping." James affirms that Parvati has indeed grown dangerously close to Alexis and Natalie and says, "She's in love with girl power." With questions about Parvati's allegiances, Amanda worries about Ozzy, saying, "Ozzy has to be careful because he is such a threat and they know he has the Idol."

Sitting on the beach away from the tribe, Jason confides in Erik his fears about the game. He worries that he won’t be around much longer unless he wins every single Immunity Challenge. Erik tell
