I attended the public meeting held last night to discuss the rezoning with the middle and yes eventually the high schools in Columbia County. The board will approve the rezoning for the high schools this year, but it won't take affect until the new high school opens. Even though I don't have any children that it will affect, it affects my property value along with my neighbors and the overall neighborhood.

Mr. Nagle was going to allow for a questions/answers session and he cut it off pretty quick when the questions became specific questions. He wanted general questions.

Overall the consensus from the public that was at the meeting is no matter how many times Mr. Nagle says they are taking the parents' concerns to the School Board, it sounds as if it's a done deal.

One parent asked how many parents/people/the public would have to be against a rezoning for the Board to go back to the drawing board. Mr. Nagle couldn't answer that. He did say though that his office had received a petition from the Flowing Wells area with over 250 signatures on it. That area has about 150 children that will be affected by the rezoning. I wonder if that's enough?

I'm sorry, but since I don't have kids in school, I don't follow this. What has happened since this?
