| Supper tonight is homemade french fries and flat iron steak, YUM! |
Don't you just love that flat iron steak? I discovered it several years when Kroger first put it out and we eat it on a regular basis. It makes the best steak sandwiches. In fact that's what we had Monday night - flat iron steak sandwiches on sweet italian rolls with sauteed onions/mushrooms and hashbrowns.
How do you cook the flat iron for this, agrit? Sounds good!

in order of preference: grill, skillet, and george foreman grill.
the other night, I put it in a skillet with a little EVOO and "sauteed" it til almost done, then I put in the onions and mushrooms til caramelized. The sweet italian rolls, I get from Kroger and simply split them and toast them lightly.
I always use either salt, coarse ground pepper and garlic salt to season or I'll use Kroger's grill seasoning.
I cook it med (that way I can get the pink to done on the ends and the kids can get the rarer parts in the middle) and slice it thin.

So, it gets tender from doing it in the skillet? Do you then cut strips of meat for the sandwiches?
Sounds good!

Deep Fried Shrimp, French Fries, and Hush Puppies, and Boopie has a batter that I just love!
3 eggs
1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Salt & pepper
Combine shrimp, salt & pepper.
In another bowl, combine eggs, flour and baking powder
Drege shrimp in egg mixture and fry.

Sounds great Brutus. Yesterday I put on a big pot of beef stew and it cooked all day. Man, it was good last night.

Yum, will you post your recipe for the beef stew in the recipe section, agrit? I haven't made homemade beef stew in forever!
I'm gonna put on a pot of chili for supper here in a little while.

I love Wendy's chili! For lunch, maybe twice a week, I will have a large chili and a baked potato with cheese & bacon.... YUM!

I made chili yesterday. I didn't have time to cook today. I worked too late. I hate to cook, but feel guilty when I have to tell the kids when they ask, "what's for supper?' and it's "Whatever you can find."

I can understand peanut; it was hard when I was divorced and did everything. It's a reward to know you can do it, but, man is it a hard road to travel.

I made homemade hamburgers and french fries. I just ate a patty and 5 fries and 2 little dill pickles.
The boys enjoyed it!

It's really getting tough lately. I am glad that I am getting busier with my business, but most of it takes place in the afternoons or on weekends. I have to schedule everything around everything else I have going on with the kids. I am going to have to start using the crock pot more. Anybody have some good recipes for the crock pot?

Yes, I did put one in for scalloped potatoes; they are better than in the oven, peanut.
I'll set up a spot just for crockpot recipes; I have alot of them.

Ball season has started so we'll be doing a lot of slow cooked meals. But I put my spaghetti sauce in the crockpot yesterday and then went home between work and the game and turned it off. When we got home, I just had to fix the pasta and bread. So, to make a long story short, for supper last night we had spaghetti and garlic bread.

Last night, brutus made a fantastic baked steak using chuck steak. He wanted to make steaks in the skillet, but I guess me asking for baked steak and mashed potatoes, I sorta got my way, lol
He should've known he could've made it any way he wanted!
But, oh man, it was delicious! I think I could make money panning him out to single women to make their dinners -- shoot, one different household once a week, 5 times a week... we'd be rich! LOL
